Social Media Marketing World: Code of Conduct
Social Media Examiner is committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all participants at all conference venues and conference-related social events. All sponsors, speakers, attendees, media, exhibitors, vendors, staff and other participants must respect common sense rules for public behavior, respecting others, common courtesy, and respect for private property. Physical, written, verbal or other abuse, intimidation, bullying, threats, harassment, stalking, or use of any physical force whatsoever against any person, which in any way creates a disturbance, that is disruptive or dangerous, or creates apprehension in a person, as determined by Social Media Examiner, in their sole discretion, will not be tolerated. Social Media Examiner reserves the right to revoke, without refund, the badge of any attendee not in compliance with this Code of Conduct.
All determinations of appropriate or inappropriate behavior are in Social Media Examiner’s sole discretion and the decision(s) of Social Media Examiner’s representatives on-site will be final.
Expected behavior includes, but is not limited to:
- Be considerate and respectful.
- Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behavior, materials and speech.
- Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants. Alert Event Staff if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.
Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to:
- Offensive comments (verbal, written, or otherwise)
- Deliberate intimidation or stalking
- Inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention
Possible consequences include, but are not limited to:
Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated by any participant. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, Social Media Examiner may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including:
- Verbal warning
- Expulsion from the conference (and future conferences) without warning or refund
- Contact of law enforcement
If you witness or are subjected to unacceptable behavior:
If you feel your safety is at risk, notice that someone else is being subjected to unacceptable behavior, or become aware of a participant not in compliance with this policy you should immediately locate the nearest member of security, or staff member, so that the matter can be handled in an expeditious manner.
All reports will remain completely confidential; however, if Social Media Examiner must involve third-parties, such as law enforcement, details may be shared with such third parties.
Event Staff will be available to help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, to provide escorts, or to otherwise assist those experiencing unacceptable behavior to feel safe for the duration of the conference. You can report unacceptable behavior to any member of staff. Staff can be found in the onsite Information Booth. At any time, if you feel you are in imminent danger, Social Media Examiner urges you to immediately contact law enforcement by calling 911.
The above policies may be revised at any time by Social Media Examiner and are non-negotiable. This Code of Conduct is without prejudice to Social Media Examiner’s rights, all of which it expressly reserves.
