Instagram and IGTV Desktop Publishing From Facebook Creator Studio: Page admins can now use Facebook Creator Studio to upload and publish Instagram and IGTV posts from the desktop. This workaround also gives users access to insights and the ability to manage all inbound and outbound communications from a laptop or computer. Prior to this, Instagram direct messages were only accessible through the mobile app.

STOP THE PRESSES!!! You can now upload to Instagram from the desktop. THIS IS NOT A DRILL!

Instagram and WhatsApp Rebranded With “From Facebook”: The Information reports “Facebook plans to signal its control of Instagram and WhatsApp by adding its name to both apps.” The company confirmed this change and stated that it wants “to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook.”

Instagram is looking to hire its first-ever meme-account-partnerships manager, @TaylorLorenz reports. But young memers are distrustful of the platform. https://t.co/ZvsrcX7fCf

According to Instagram, the person will work within Instagram’s partnerships division to identify important new formats and trends while also serving “memers” already on the platform.

Facebook Expands Search Ads Placements to More Advertisers: After testing search ads late last year with a small number of businesses in the United States, Facebook is now expanding the availability of these placements to more advertisers.

Like ads on the Facebook news feed, search ads have a “Sponsored” tag above them and advertisers can create them with either static images or carousels. The new search placement option appears as “Facebook search” when creating campaigns for Facebook news feed and must run in tandem with news feed ads.

Facebook Removes Outdated and Infrequently Used Interest Targeting Options: Facebook plans to remove thousands of outdated and infrequently used interest targets such as old movie or band names, and other older cultural references across all Facebook ads interfaces and APIs over the coming months. Facebook expects that the vast majority of advertisers won’t notice the removals.
