This is a great idea by Facebook. I think that, over time, it has the potential to dramatically alter gift giving between consumers. While I am unsure if a card like this already exists, I do know that there is no way any company can compete with Facebook due to its ridiculously high market share. This card will catch on quickly. At first, it may just appeal to those gift givers who are lazy and buy their friends/loved ones gifts at the last possible second (this card is perfect for just that). However, over time, once many users own these cards and more companies partner with Facebook, these unlimited giftcards will be the primary way of giving giftcards. Making gift giving a more social and seamless experience seems like an obvious recipe for success. The future of gift giving looks bright thanks to Facebook and I’m definitely excited about it.
