Facebook Rolls Out New Custom Ad Targeting Option: Facebook quietly rolled out the ability for brands to create custom audiences that target users who have viewed their canvas ads on Facebook. Canvas was introduced earlier this year and was designed to be “a full-screen ad experience built for bringing brands and products to life on mobile.” With the release of canvas ads, marketers can now build fully customized multimedia stories using a combination of text, links, images, video, call-to-action buttons, and product feeds to bring brand stories to life. Canvas custom audiences targeting broadens advertisers’ ability to funnel more customers to toward a conversion.

YouTube Brings Live Streaming to Mobile: YouTube will be “bringing the power of live video to creators everywhere” with the launch of live streaming on its mobile app. Mobile live streaming on YouTube “will have all the features your regular videos have – you’ll be able to search for them, find them through recommendations and playlists and protect them from unauthorized uses.” YouTube launched this new capability to a select group of users at VidCon and “will be rolling it out more widely soon.”

Facebook Enables Continuous Live Video Support and Geogating: “Facebook will now allow non-stop, long-form broadcasting.” TechCrunch reports that the only tradeoff for the Continuous Live Video API is that “unlike [the] normal Facebook Live stream, there’s no option to let people replay the stream later or rewind to earlier.” Facebook also rolled out a new geogating feature to the Live API, which allows publishers to “make a video visible only to people in a particular location if that’s where it’s most relevant or they only have limited broadcast rights.”
