Welcome to our weekly edition of what's hot in social media news. To help you stay up-to-date with social media, here are some of the news items that caught our attention.
What's New This Week?
Facebook Updates Events Interface: Several changes make Facebook Events easier to use. There's more flexibility when creating an Event and it's easier to find an option to create a Facebook Event for your particular needs. There are also changes to the Event pages including the wall only allowing comments from people who say they're attending or might do so. And the Event page wall now shows updates by order of engagement.
Google+ Makes it Easy to Create Your YouTube Account: This recent update “gives the more than 100 million of you on Google+, who are already able to watch YouTube in Hangouts and share videos with your Circles, another way to bring the best of Google+ directly into your YouTube experience.”
YouTube Encourages Engaging Videos: Previously, YouTube made video suggestions to viewers based on how many people clicked to watch a video. YouTube has changed their algorithm to now suggest videos “based on which videos contribute to a longer overall viewing session rather than how many clicks an individual video receives.”

GET THE DETAILSFoursquare Is Prettier on Facebook: The Foursquare application on Facebook integrates with the Timeline design. “Now, the check-ins that you choose to share on Facebook look nicer, in both your Timeline and News Feed (and if you check in a bunch of times, your friends will see them as one nice story instead of separately). Your check-in photos show up full-size, too, just like photos you upload to Facebook.”
Posterous Joins Twitter: Posterous was acquired by Twitter. Â “Posterous Spaces will remain up and running without disruption. We'll give users ample notice if we make any changes to the service. For users who would like to back up their content or move to another service, we'll share clear instructions for doing so in the coming weeks.”
Here's a social media tool worth noting:
Everplaces: An iPhone app that allows you to “keep track of wonderful places, those you want to revisit and those you want to try out one day. Follow like-minded people and exchange recommendations.”
