Arsham Mirshah of Web Mechanix turned me on to Lucky Orange. It allows you to watch activity on your site in real time and play back people’s sessions.

I’ve been using it to watch fall-off and landing page activity. It has heat maps so you can see where people are engaging with your pages, and it even has live chat. You can proactively chat with someone who is on a page and let them know you are there to help or people can reach out to you directly when you have chat online.

social media how toTwitter is starting to look a bit like Facebook.

Twitter changed their account profiles so you can visually tell the story of your business.

With a little thought and planning, you can now create a Twitter page that performs like a business welcome page for existing and potential customers.

And you can instantly publish your story to desktop and mobile Twitter users.

What’s New With Twitter

Twitter recently announced changes to Twitter account profiles and headers. These changes include:

  • New profile header images. Now, your Twitter account starts with a main image, much like the Facebook timeline format’s cover image, but with some important differences.
  • Updated photo streams. It’s easier than ever to highlight images you have posted with your tweets and share them with your followers.
  • New mobile apps for Android, iPhone and iPad. These Twitter changes are not just on the desktop. They rolled out to most mobile devices at the same time.

What’s New This Week?

Twitter Rolls Out New Profiles: You can now “upload an all-new header photo on mobile apps for iPad, iPhone and Android or twitter.com, and the same image will appear whenever anyone views your profile on the web or these apps.” Apple iPad users also have a new Twitter app.

According to a recent study by Flurry, consumers spent 81 minutes per day using mobile apps, compared to 74 minutes of web surfing. Here’s where it gets even more interesting. Social networking is one of two categories that dominate mobile app usage with 32% and games are responsible for 47%.

In Search of Apps

As a social media marketer, you’ll likely want to find apps that will help you keep up with social networking and stay productive while on the go. Many of us hear about apps from friends and colleagues, from articles we read, from searching around on Apple’s App Store to see what’s new and through dedicated search engines such as Chomp.

social media how toIf you have profiles on LinkedIn and Twitter, you may already be aware that these two networks are integrating. In fact, LinkedIn has a specific application called Tweets that can help you keep tabs on the Twitter updates from your LinkedIn connections.

As more professional LinkedIn users create Twitter profiles, I believe this application will become more and more powerful for building influence and visibility with your network connections.

The primary benefits of the LinkedIn Tweets application are:

  • Follow your LinkedIn connections on Twitter
  • Post status updates simultaneously to both Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Monitor and interact with your Twitter streams from within LinkedIn
  • Create a LinkedIn-specific Twitter list

social media how toIf I were going steady with any social networking site, I would have to call LinkedIn my main squeeze.

Ahhh yes, the lovely LinkedIn.

She warms me up with friendly introductions to powerful decision makers. She brings a smile to my face from the absurd amount of targeted traffic to my websites. And she goes WAY over the top with the number of direct sales referrals she gives me.

It’s a digital romance we have, and I’ll profess my love for her ’til the end of time. 😉

In all seriousness, I’m a big fan of LinkedIn because of the direct business I receive from it. And although I’ve written books about LinkedIn, given webinars and presentations on the topic and written articles like Top 5 Ways to Market Your Business With LinkedIn, I’ve never done a dedicated article about the advanced applications… until now.
