LinkedIn Introduces Mentions: LinkedIn adds “a new way for you to engage with your network through the ability to mention your connections and companies in conversations on LinkedIn.”

"In addition to first-degree connections, you can also mention other LinkedIn members engaged in conversations in the comment sections of posts on the LinkedIn Homepage."

LinkedIn Gives Thought Leaders a Publishing Platform: Thought leaders can now publish articles on LinkedIn and users can choose to follow content from their favorite authors. This new feature is currently limited to “150 of the most influential thought leaders on LinkedIn,” but will expand over the next few months. “Those interested in becoming an influencer on LinkedIn can submit their request here.”

LinkedIn provides thought leaders an opportunity to reach a wider audience.
Google+ Custom URLs: This Week in Social Media

What’s New This Week?
Google+ Rolls Out Custom URLs for Profiles and Pages: Google+ is “introducing custom URLs to a limited number of verified profiles and pages.” Custom URLs will be made available to others in the future, but Google has not said when.
Google+ will be rolling out custom URLs like this one for Hugo Boss.
Klout Gets a Major Update: Klout has made changes to the way they calculate Klout scores to increase accuracy, give more transparency and improve website design. There’s also a new feature called Moments, which displays the content and ideas that have been most influential across all of your networks. With these recent changes, Klout helps “everyone to gain a clearer, more accurate understanding of how they influence other people through the ideas they share.”
