I’m Leslie Miller, a freelance editor, “ghost” and journalist in lovely Denver, Colorado. And in case you’re wondering, yes, I do have a view of the Rockies from my office window.

I suspect my passion for reading and words stems from a shy childhood spent as a bookworm. I remember my mom yelling “go outside and play with your friends” as I sprawled across my bed, engrossed in some novel about a girl and her horse or kids having adventures that would have scared me witless.

I can remember some of the plots of Nancy Drew mysteries to this day.

“Professional manuscript editor” is my third career. I spent 18 years in New York’s fashion industry as a dress pattern-maker. Next up, I became a meditation teacher, traveling the country teaching workshops.

I came to a love of editing books much later, when I discovered a talent I’d been unaware of — that of making words flow; making concepts, ideas, and information completely clear. People began asking me to edit books and write for them. A new career was born.

Would you believe that I find editing fascinating, engaging, fulfilling, and exciting? I delight in tightening up prose, removing those pesky excess words and enjoying just how much faster and clearer the narrative flows. It never ceases to amaze me how removing one little word, or changing a weak word to a stronger one, can bring a sentence to life.

Oh yeah, I’ve done so much work with WordPress over the past couple of years that I’ve started working as a WordPress coach!
