I have been writing news and headlines for 25 years, now blogging. If you want to position yourself as an expert in your field (the "go-to" professional with the answers), I hesitate to use a question in the headline. The mindset is that people who need our help are looking for answers, not more questions. I find that questions are powerful within the content to engage the readers, but I rarely use them in a headline.

When blogging and writing tipsheets, press releases and articles, I follow this model: the public (reader) has the pain or problem and I (as the credible expert) have the band-aid or pill to ease their pain. Ex: "25 Ways to Lower Your Credit Card Debt", "7 Ways to Unclutter Your Kitchen", etc.

Susan (www.getinfrontblogging.com)

Usually I like to say that the headline should emerge from your writing. Write your post and then come up with the headline. Unless you select one of these headlines that clearly need some connections: Like what does a _____ have in common with a ____________
