WordPress 3.4 was released this past Friday, June 15. It has some new features, including the ability to embed a tweet at the end of your posts.
But first, let’s update to version 3.4.
- First back up all your files. You can do this using the plugin WP-DB Backup.
- Then deactivate all your plugins by selecting All, then in Bulk Actions click Apply
- Now you can update your WordPress version by clicking Update
- Once the new version is installed, you can now re-activate all your plugins
For Akismet, you may need to re-enter your API key. If you don’t have it, then don’t deactivate it while updating the version.
Once you have been updated, do check out the new features.
One new feature of WordPress 3.4 is the ability to embed specific tweets in your post that your blog visitors can follow, reply, retweet, or favourite from within your blog post. Do this by grabbing the URL for your tweet and place it in your post or page. You get the URL by clicking on the time stamp in the top right-hand corner of the tweet.
