Which Social Network? (31 posts)

  • Which social network do you want to learn more about?

    Facebook?Twitter?Pinterest?Google Plus?LinkedIn?Any Other?

Would love to know which social network you are struggling with the most.

    Russell

  • I’m interested to know more about Google + and all the benefits that it has for a business account.

  • I’ll take more education on twitter, G+ and Linkedin.

  • Google+ is definitely the social network I would like to learn more about.

  • facebook  ,its so important  to us, complex and  changing all he time….  i would like to  hear   more from  experts  with good local   experience…

  • Social network? What about SME’s Networking Clubs? A definite leadership site for business professionals (who are ALL impacted by social media / internet marketing whether they understand that yet or not)…

I see these Networking Clubs as somewhat akin to LinkedIn but with different goals or focus.

If you could take SME’s Networking Clubs to the “next level,” where would that be… what would that look like… what’s the hook?

    Just thinkin’…. :)

    Robin Carlisle

  • The hook Robin is that there is a deeper sense of relationship here than on LinkedIN. I have been away for a few weeks and had SME members ask how I was. That is cool! @atlantarobin

  • Its Google Plus for me. I really believe that this time next year it is going to be massive. Google of course must be taken seriously as they basically have unlimited funds. So I would love to hear how other people have been increasing their followers on Google Plus and the types of content that is posted.

  • Google + would be my top choice for more information.  Of course, you can find a lot of the information about G+ um, at G+! Heh.

@atlantarobin – As far as the SME Clubs go — as long as the personal attacks (I’ve already had some of that happen) are dealt with swiftly, I’ll be here however, things can go south pretty quickly so only time will tell. I’ve been spreading myself around many places and it is always surprising to me what any website will put up with to appease one person who has a bad attitude, bad language, and no social skills whatsoever.  The third time’s a charm and one more and I’m out.

  • @russellallert Not so much as want as need to learn more about Facebook. I have absorbed a lot from Mari Smith’s emails and webinars; however, I need to develop a better engagement plan for our members and followers.

Twitter and LinkedIn I have a good handle on and Pinterest is low on the radar at the moment. I would use Google+ more personally if I had the time. Phil Plait, aka Bad Astronomer, is always holding Hangouts to view space events with other astronomers.

  • @atlantarobin i wish  you  could  get more  brick and mortar  users  on here….  i sure like hearing  from the   ones here  now..

…maybe  SMEcould look  more towards     WHATS  WORKING  FOR YOUR  CLIENTS..  .Or even  better what didnt work and  why….  real world  stories  are  so interesting to me….

  • @russellallert I would like to know more about Google+, particularly how to get more connections.  I feel that I am underutilizing it, from the articles I’ve read about how great it is for business.

  • @russellallert

I hate to say/admit this, but Pinterest. I still can’t wrap my head around it!

The others I feel pretty comfortable with, although there’s always room to learn more.

I actually put on monthly lunch & learns here in Maine, with me presenting on one subject and another marketing professional presenting on a different subject…this coming month I’m bringing in a woman to talk about Pinterest mostly for selfish reasons!

I’ll let you know what I find out…

  • Looks like you are getting some good answers here, Russell. I’d have to go with Google +. I need to DO what I know about facebook and don’t think I’ll focus on LinkedIn, Twitter or Pinterest. @russellallert

Please let me/us know about any instances of inappropriate postings, Elaine. @superebI’ve been offine (aarrgghh) and missing everyone! Yes, there is definitely an atmosphere of real connection here. @jasonwiser

  • Ditto, Miss Dea, on all that. My sentiments exactly.

    Robin

  • @rich-brooks ditto on the Pinterest. Evidently it works really well for some businesses. Great way to spread imagery for pretty physical products, but not my cup of tea.

  • @juleswebb

    Unless you were selling tea.

  • @rich-brooks –Ha! You got me, but only if it’s in a pretty tea package ;)

  • Awesome responses everyone! Looks like Google Plus is what a lot of people want to know more about.

@rich-brooks That monthly lunch idea sounds great! Let me know how you go with Pinterest.

@supereb I have found everyone on here to be really nice.

  • @russellallert

Thank you Russel for posting this question.

I am personally very much familiar with Twitter, Linkedin, Xing and unfortunately FB

I am not sure if I would be ever interested into acquiring the knowledge of anything else for the following reasons:

1- Is it worth it?2- What can the others provide that the already mentioned can not?3- who is going to pay for the time that you are going to consume investing in learning a new engine / application?4- etc

In my opinion we should go with what is most known and proving to be efficient and only invest in learning to work on a new application when we are sure that one of the already established portals is going to close.

PS the answer does not really liaise to your question or at least directly but thought like asking this question since we are talking about most of the recognized online tools at the moment. If you feel like moving the question as a new topic please feel free.

    Cheers!EddyYour thoughts!

  • @russellallert

Well, I just spent the last few days reacquainting myself with WordPress. That leaves Pinterest. So that’s the one I’ll be looking to learn more about and implement a few tips like the text on a background image you talked about in another of your posts.

I’m not really struggling with any of them, more of a finding time for all of it as a solopreneur. What I am struggling with is converting followers, etc. to sales.

  • @krmcgee I am writing some stuff now about conversions from social media, which I haven’t quite finished yet, but I can say that it takes time.

It’s all about building that “trust bridge” from your social networking site to your website (or wherever you sell your products). If someone trusts you then they are more likely to buy from you.

And, of course, offering amazing products/services.

    Russ

  • @russellallert Let me know when the article’s finished. Your articles tend to be quite helpful.

The “trust bridge” makes sense. Hopefully, the article I’m working on will help in building more trust with potential customers. And hopefully, Pinterest will help with this as well.

Yes, amazing products/services are a must. Totally agree.

    KR

  • @krmcgee Cheers! :)

  • I started doing a weekly Google+ Social Sports & Entertainment Hangout and it has connected me with some great people. Google is now promoting our weekly show. Here is a quick promo link.

I find that consistency with Social Media and marketing is the key.

  • Pinterest. I would like to learn what it can do for a local business. So far all I know is my wife loves to post here favorite household items on it. I’m not seeing the contention for a local business. Admittedly, I have not taken the time to research it.

  • @russellallert

Thanks for posting this question Russell.

I’d have to say it would be Google+ and LinkedIn company pages. I feel pretty confident in using the other social networks for my organization, but I am still getting used to Google+ and I would love to know how others used LinkedIn company pages or just suggestions on how to use LinkedIn better as an individual.

  • @chrisyates11 Hi Chris

Great stuff! And I agree. Consistency is a must!

@smslilak No problems, Steph. Thanks for answering! :)

  • @russellallert

    I like your argument

  • The social site I would love to learn more about is Google Plus.Pinterest is more user friendly site very easy to use and easily connectable with facebook. For facebook and pinterest create a very synergy in terms of connecting and sharing updates.Iam using twitter to my advantage and I have found one great blogsite which educate tweeples and non-tweeples about twitter.

  • I let twitter get away from me, too many followers and not enough of a target. how to get back on target with twitter, that is what I need
