Which is the most powerful Small business Marketing book ? (10 posts)

  • A quick check of Amazon will show you that there are a lot to choose from. Which is your favorite and why?

  • @roryramsden,

The best one I’ve read lately is “Marketing White Belt” (www.amazon.com/Marketing-White-Belt-Marketer-ebook/dp/B0054HKSFQ) by Chris Penn. Excellent book and an easy read.

  • One of the best business books I have read on marketing is
Positioning: The Battle for Your Mind by Al Ries and Jack Trout

Another one is McDonald’s: Behind The Arches by John F. Love

  • Check out Likeable from Dave Kerpen. Dave owns Likeable Media, which runs social media campaigns for Verizon, 1800Flowers.com, Neutrogena, etc. It’s full of actionable insights. It’s not specifically for small businesses, but everything that he writes is applicable.

  • How about a few summary comments gleaned from your reading for those who have absolutely no time to read (because perhaps they are spending too much time on the SME forums!!) @lukaspleva @kathyweir @calevans @roryramsden

  • @roryramsden

Rory my 2 best marketing Amazon book purchases have been Social Boom by Jeffrey Gitomer and Book yourself Solid by Michael Port – both books really made me re-evaluate our whole social media strategy.

  • The Long Tail by Chris Anderson  http://www.amazon.com/Long-Tail-Future-Business-Selling/dp/1401302378

While not about small business per se, this book literally changed the way I think and how I approach the digital world.  While not great for big media, for the little guy this book leaves you feeling very fired up to get after it!  (at least that’s what it did for me).

  • One of my favorites — and there are many — isGuerilla Social Media Marketing: 100+ Weapons to Grow Your Online Influence, Attract Customers, and Drive Profits by Jay Conrad Levinson andShane Gibson. And don’t forget SME’s articles. I’m developing a good reference library from their info alone. Great question. Let’s keep this ball rolling. Best,

  • One of the best books I read this year is “The Effortless Yes” by Julie Steelman. Julie talks about our own and our client “archetypes” and really understands the sales and marketing “dance.”

I learned so much about what signals to pick up depending on what people say or do and also about myself and things I need to do that I wasn’t.

    Highly recommend this.
    Susan

  • I’m reading Guerrilla Marketing Remix right now… I’m also in DeBary, FL at Guerrilla Marketing Intensive at Jay Conrad Levinson’s home.  I like the Remix book because it’s consolidated with nuggets from many of the other Guerrilla books.

    Cheers!
