Which client billing software do you use? (9 posts)

  • Always on the lookout for suggestions on Client billing software. What do you use? What do you like dislike about it? Have you used others in the past that didn’t cut it?

  • Hi Jason

I’ve been using FreshBooks for quite a while now and I love it. It is so easy to use and have very friendly interface.
I would highly recommend give it a go.

  • @jasonwiser  Another FreshBooks use here as well. It simply works well for my business and is so simple to setup and use. Plus it features an API that allows for it to work with many other online services and platforms.

  • I was using Freshbooks for over a year but several clients would complain about the payment process. Specifically an issue they regularly have where the interface continues to ask the client to log in to PayPal even if they are paying with a regular credit card.

Due to this I switched to PayPal and cut out the middle man. My clients can pay with their PayPal account or any credit card. Their invoicing system is great and it keeps a record of all your invoices the same way Freshbooks does. Aside from the transaction fee (which you would be charged using Freshbooks anyway), it’s free.

We use QuickBooks and Tick for time tracking.

  • OK, another question, do you automate billing? I have been using Paypal invoicing, but my billing schedules are getting out of hand. I have a database, but i have to manually access it and constantly monitor billing cycles. I need to automate billing and sending invoices and reminders for recurring billing. Suggestions?  @rich-brooks @jamesalonso @sketchgraphx @fsdegrees

  • Quickbooks. I use the time sheet in it for myself and subs. And enter every expense like hosting / domains that needs to be charged back to customers. So when it comes time to invoice, QB serves up a list of all hours and expenses. We generate the invoice from that. I am paying for an add-on so that when the invoice is mailed out, people can click through and pay on line. It is not perfect and they have a lot of the complacency of any monopoly (poor service) but I like how it is soup to nuts:  from time sheet through billing all the way to turning a copy in to the accountant ready for taxes.

  • We are also Freshbooks users. No complaints here!
