What’s your word for 2012 (13 posts)

Topic tags: 2012, 2012 word, clarity, goals
  • I always like to pick a word for the year and use it as my overarching filter for building my business – this year  (2012) – I’ve chosen the word Clarity.

I chose it because I was having a conversation with Jason Fried, founder of 37Signals about the idea of simplicity (another great word) and we were both talking about how something that is complex, but clear, is still simple – so, I’m going for clarity in all things this coming year.

Okay, how about you? What’s your one word for 2012

  • My word is FOCUS

  • My word for this year is Action
I want to act on ideas instead of letting them accumulate. I want to make progress on projects I’ve already started. I want to beat the resistance by taking action each day to get me closer to where I want to be with my business.

  • Hi John.

Did you want us to explain our word choice?  I didn’t elaborate on mine cos I’m afraid the posts might get wordy, which would cause us to lose clarity (ha ha!)  But if you’d like a brief reason why — how about setting a Twitter-style limit to an explanatory note?

  • My word for this year is “Action”   Last year was the “Year of Imagination”   My followers love having a theme for each year.  This is a video gift that I gave them this year to remind them of how “Action Can Make Your Dreams Come True“

Thank you @johnjantsch  I am enjoying reading what everybody else is choosing for their “Word of the Year”

  • My word is CONSISTENCY

  • My word for 2012 is Purpose, without it what’s the point. Knowing it gives my life meaning. I want 2012 to be more meaningful.

  • My word is CREATE – to create the best possible outcomes in 2012.

  • My word is Focus – making sure I stay on plan and on target, in all aspects of my life- spiritual, family, and work.

I just started joining Chris Brogan on his 3 words  but If I only have to say one my word would be CLEAR - ensuring all things make sense and easy to understand for my audience.

  • I just read Arlene Dickinson’s book titled Persuation. It truly inspired me to change the way I think about business, talking to people in business and also the way I view myself. For those reasons my word is: PERSUASION | I really recommend reading this book to all business owners and entrepreneurs.

  • Thanks @sgsrecording – I’ll look into that one

Thanks everyone else for sharing too!

  • @johnjantsch,

Clarity is a good word for 2012.  So much has been a ruckous in our world over the past couple of years….if I didn’t already have a plan, I might consider it.

Last year, my word was “Refresh.”  I even chose a groovy purple button as my guiding image to influence all that I did.

I’m positioning myself, my business, to grow and “ship.”  But in the past I’ve had the tendency to bite of more than I could chew, so to speak.

I’m choosing a theme phrase this year:

    Build With Balance.

I’ve already built new patterns into my schedule & plans.  So, here we go…  :)

Thank you for sharing your word, and for asking such a great question!

    ~Keri
