What’s Your Favorite Tool for Getting Things Done? (19 posts)

  • Do you have a favorite website, app or other resource that helps you get things done?

Whether it’s a to-do list, timed emails, or a shopping list, I’d love to know what helps you manage your day, your week, or your desktop.

    Thanks!

  • I’m using Things for day to day tasks and then Basecamp for bigger projects they work quite well for me.

  • @rich-brooks @fsdegrees I rely a lot on my outlook calenddar and a timer to help stay on task. But, I work from home, so can rely on those tools. Outlook i s largely a habit from past jobs, but it generally works.

And, since it has to do with my style  of learning (tactile) I usually write a list daily, at the start of the day. It forces me to prioritize, or re-prioritize, and will focus me on the day ahead.

  • I use the Microsoft Works calendar that came with my computer, but I want to look into Google calendar so I can always have access to my calendar.  Has anyone used this?

I also love the notes app that comes with the iPhone and iPad.  I can jot down notes anywhere and it syncs between the two so I can access the notes on either device.

  • outlook calendar for booking in stuffoutlook tasks for the jobs

i have them categorised (both) so i know at what stage i need to do things.

I’m using Asana.com. Its quick. It’s easy to set up and its not as clunky as base camp. My paper notes have now disappeared :)

I use teamlab.com and am loving it.

  • @rich-brooks Would you believe an old fashioned cross-it-off-when-you’re-done to-do list?

  • @rich-brooks I also use Google calendar, very useful as I can sync with laptop, iPhone and iPad. And, I recently discovered Evernote and now wonder how I ever could live without such a cool application. Great to jot down comments, bookmark an interesting article, write weekly or daily to-dos, etc.

I also use Evernote. Great tool for clipping useful information. I use it for work, and for home I collect recipes I like.

  • Google Calendar is really my trusty go-to source for things on my day obviously as well as tasks, contacts, etc. And it’s good to have it sync as well.

  • I use Pegby.com to keep track of clients and prospects (I am very visual)Delicious to keep my referencesZemanta to help me blog’BlogThis! to help me blogLots of Chrome extensions -Webpage screenshopKindleitGoogle Calendar

  • I use Evernote to keep track of business and personal goals and plans. Evernote is like a sticky note that can never be misplaced. Evernote is unlike a sticky note in that it never loses its stickiness and falls off the computer screen!!

I use both Microsoft Outlook and Goggle calendar to keep track of different responsibilities. I also use weekly to do lists to keep on track Monday through Friday.

If I don’t write it down, odds are I won’t do it.

  • Google Calendar has been my ally. Gonna take a look at teamlab.com as @juleswebb recommend it.

  • @fernandocorteslet me know what you think.

As a developer I love that I can comment on my “tasks” This is a great way to document how I’m working  through or troubleshoot coding issues. And later it’s a good reference if I run into the same problem and need a little reminder of how I previously handled the situation.

  • I use Basecamp and Highrise from 37 Signals for larger projects and iCal and a Moleskin notebook for daily tasks and appointments. I like that iCal sends me reminders on my iPhone.

  • @rich-brooks

I use a free, web-based to-do list called, whimsically, Teux Deux. I am a list-maker and a list item crosser-outer, and Teux Deux gives me the satisfaction of crossing out items once I complete them, and then deleting them altogether.

If you don’t complete today’s task, simply drag-and-drop it into a different day on the calendar, or wait until the clock strikes midnight, when all of the items on today’s list automatically get routed to tomorrow’s list. Slick.

  • I use Workflowy to save my to-do list. Google Calendar which reminds me of my tasks and Google Docs.

  • I am very intrigued by Evernote and have installed it on all my devices for several months. However, I must admit I am having a hard time getting used to using the tool and how it can add value. Am anxious to keep learning about it from others.
