  • i would  love to hear how its   good  for  social media  work….are any of   your  clients using it?  is it just  for mobile?

i need  good pictures   but  just have a  little   3x camera… i could  buy  better, if needed…

  • Hi Ann –  @annfurnivall

    Here you go:

    and

    Eileen :D

  • thanks…..how about your  clients? @supereb

  • At least a few are using it – I don’t have a lot of input for them on this item. However, when ads go out via iphone/ipad I help with the graphic design or manipulation.

I think most people use it for sharing photos of family, events and like that.  It does have it’s place in advertising though and getting a handle on that is where a lot of marketers are now.

  • I only have a personal instagram, and have not explored the marketing possibilities.  Personally I think Pinterest is more beneficial since more people are on it … BUT the one good feature of Instagram is that it connects with more of other networks such as Tumblr, twitter, flicker, facebook, foursquare  — i think those are the only sites they hooks up to now but I wouldn’t be surprised if the list keeps growing.

  • @annfurnivall @devanianjali @supereb I think we’re only beginning to see the marketing possibilities with Instagram. Yesterday a MailChimp / Instagram app add-on came out … I know when I see MailChimp move on something this quickly, it’s going to be HUGE!

  • @amyhallbiz   that  sounds  good…pictures  are so   basic to  my  facebook  thang…im  hearing   instagram   more and more  from  my  customers…. @devanianjali thanks…i like that it is connected to  facebook..im so heavily involved on pinterest, i dont think i could  do that much on   instagram.but probably  some……but there are  some   barriers   about   melding pinterest and  facebook….

.do you know ? ….. does the picture   have to start out on  your   phone?….smart phone?   anywhere else?.  thanks

  • @supereb…thanks… thats  kind of  where i am.. just  exploring  for later, maybe…and i would love it if it   gave me a way to play around  with pictures   easier..

.since im in the   techno dud  compartment of the  baby boomers..lol   i cant do photo shop….

  • @annatgreenoak – It really depends on your audiance… for instance, if you really want to target teens and tweens … it’s a must! (IMO) — they love using it b/c it’s ‘fun and trendy’ — but with Pinteresting you’re really targeting more of the women crowd (which is also mostly mom’s)

  • Just today I read the following article on this topic: Instagram for PR: 4 overlooked ways to use the app

  • @annfurnivall

Some great answers above. Here’s my take:

Instagram is a cool filter for making your photos more fun/interesting. It’s easy to use and to add a variety of cool filters to your pics, as well as selectively blurring certain sections of an image.

There’s definitely a social component to Instagram, and I love following a variety of people through the mobile app.

I also use Instagram to make the photos I post to Facebook and Twitter (whether for myself personally or my business) more visually.

If I were you, based on your business, I’d be snapping photos of just about anything you’re selling and sharing it on Instagram and posting some of that to Facebook and Twitter as well.

Hashtags are also big on instagram, so you could tag certain items with #kitchen, or #window, or #antiques.

    Good luck!

  • @rich-brooks THANKS..that  sounds like a  really good way to look at it…..i think this will b e  on  my  to do list pretty  quick…

.it  sounds  kind of perfect  for us and another  way to   find  folks…i  would  guess  devani is mostly    right about the age  group right now  ,,,but im hearing about it   from   some  customers  already  so its  probably  starting to move into the mainstream..

guess i will be ordering a  phone   tomorrow…dh  just got a 5 and  gave his 4  away..or  4  and  gave away 3… .or  whatever…but i  think i will need one now to try this…

    @devanianjali

  • @annfurnivall I’ve been using IG personally (on my Android phone) and I love it; for an artist it’s a good way to create a curated gallery of art and photos.

I haven’t used it for business yet, but our construction biz is about to start a remodel and I’ve been thinking about setting up an account for BCG. Pictures of demo, framing, sheetrock, tile selections, flooring etc could be shared with short descriptions and how-tos? Still working it through :)

For the antique store, you already do a great job of taking “big” pictures of areas of the shop and multiple items. For IG, you could focus in on more of the details of individual items, with a brief “why you love it” statement. That would give you a “hook” for sending people to IG.

You can also have your website, Pinterest or FB address in your IG profile, so you have an opportunity to send IGers to one of your other platforms…

  • I use instagram a lot, I started to use it for my personal use but a lot of people liked my photos so I began taking more n.n for all this time I had been using it, I had seen stores increasing their followers and customers really quickly, they take good photos of their products everyday.

I’m just starting a blog so I’m using some of my photos for some articles, they look very professional for a blog (you have to take good pictures though xD), I also use it to post pictures in my facebook page so I can be more original n.n

so I really recommend it n.n

  • this is  sounding  good….  how  does the interaction work?  @hytare pamela, whats nn? @reneestpeter i like the hook idea.. i like anything  that  gets my web out there,…. probably  good  for  seo….
