What YouTube video would help your idea client with their biggest problem? (20 posts)

  • And, what’s keeping you from creating it?

Or, if you have created it, what’s it about, and feel free to share the link!

  • i know  my  customers would love to have a  video of our  paint   system..or  for  fun, unloading a  big load……  but  dang….the learning  curve…and the time… @rich-brooks why do you say you tube,  is that  better than a  video standing alone on  facebook?

  • @annfurnivall

I’d recommend posting the video to YouTube first, then embedding it on Facebook. That way you get all the search engine visibility of YouTube PLUS the engagement of Facebook. And the views on FB count towards your YT views.

Remember: most people still aren’t on FB, and most who are aren’t looking for business solutions. But when they Google something, your keyword-rich, how-to video is right there!

  • thanks  rich….  so you are saying  that   youtube   will get picked up  better than   things on  facebook?

we  are  tryng to  gear up  for  this project…but im  so  leery of  things,  .  ive pushed  us into  so many things  that ended up  almost useless to  us..google +, linked in,etsy, a whole website..yellow pages, yelp…. lol.but ive pushed us into  facebook and pinterest too!!! so  exploring has  been  very     good……

this  sounds  like a really  good fit  for our store….. i hope there are  some generous    folks on here   who w ill be talking  more  about  video  …

  • @annfurnivall

You’ve got to try new things. If you’re batting 1.000 it means your not trying very hard!

I’m saying that combining the two works best. You can develop an audience at YouTube just like at Facebook (subscribers, really.) YouTube reaches it’s audience and everyone who’s doing an appropriate search.

BTW, did you know that YT had 800K unique visitors monthly? That’s almost as many users on Facebook!!

  • @rich-brooks right….  i  dont use it  so its  kind of invisible to me..i need to get on there and   see what t hey do….and what  others in my  field   do  on there….  i kind of  thought it was  just for kids….i think i  need to  dig up  some info on the  demographics and see  how much  my  target customers  are on there…

.but   we are going there…..for me its a hurdle  of  getting  the time with my  tekk person,  she only works  3  days a week and has other duties here….and then  figuring out  all the stuff it  will take  to   get  the videos  actually  done….and having the  right  people and  camera  together at the right time….

  • @rich-brooks I also believe having a video on Youtube is good, but what I don’t like is that when people view it, on the right hand side is other videos that pop up and people then by curiosity click on those and go away from your page. Subscribers are good, but how many subscribers have been converted to a client? Sounds like you have used this a lot.

  • …im  going to put the  question out to  a  store  forum im  on and  see   what they  say…if  they use it  for  business and/or if  they  know any stores that  are  using it……

.  even without   you tube i  think  video  would be  goOd on  my  facebook  and  maybe  web….

    @prestonodenbrett i wondered  that  too….

  • ps….i have posted  this you tube  idea on  2  retail  circles im on  and havent    found any  stores  who  use it  or    who think  you tube  would  be  worth the effort……they   see it as a fun place  and  where to  see music, jokes and  john stewart if  you missed a show…not as a place to search  for shopping  places….   im  keeping an open  mind  tho….and   waiting  for some   more  facts  relating  to     my  field  ….

i have  plenty to keep me  busy with  facebook,  pinterest  and   my   email   work…

  • I’ve considered making some cooking videos but agree about the large learning curve. Hoping others post some ideas here. @rich-brooksAnn, who’s to say “unloading a big delivery” wouldn’t be something funny? Especially if it were edited to be in fast motion! @annfurnivall

  • @deairby i think  you`re  right  dea…that would  be  fun….and  fitting  for the   facebook page or  maybe the  website, if not  you tube….  none of us w ant to b e  filmed  so far!!!….

just  for  vanity…i would love to have a store you tube  channel!!!

  • So, Ann., what’s stopping you from a store youtube channel? No one wants to be filmed? Oh, wear a costume that disguises you! How about someone wearing a big gorilla suit? That would be funny.Or a college mascot from near by? Just a thought. @annfurnivall

  • funny  dea…..

i guess its learning curve, people and time….the  worker  who  could figure out the mechanics   and   do it  does most of our  computer work, some of   our   facebook, email marketing ,  counter duties, jons  blog, picture updates on the website, answers  emails, our ebay, inhouse signage  and  works just  3  days a week…….all this   while   dealing with our  counter, which  is 20 or 30  transactions   on a slow  day….too much info??  sorry…lol….. if i  get   convinced it would be good i will  probably have to hire someone to  come in and  do it…..  i havent  seen  much evidence  of   my  kind of store on you tube  yet….  but i  figure the  video  part  would  be  good  anyway @deairby

  • Not seeing other stores in your niche on YouTube might be a good thing.

Why not be the first? It could set you apart from your competition and start a whole new trend.

The easiest way to get started (my opinion) is to put together a simple powerpoint presentation with pics from your store.

Start with a store-front shot on the opening slide, then follow with interior shots of merchandise, sale items, etc.

Here’s a link to a YouTube video on converting PPT to Video:

P.S. Take a look at this page, it may give you some ideas:

    @annfurnivall

  • @warrenveach GOSH IT LOOKS  SO  GOOD…..   THANKS ,  i can  see it as  good  even  if  it  would just  get  seen   from  our  website  and  facebook….  and maybe  there is  more  searching on there than ive heard  about…. and thanks  for the   links  too!!! …….

.  just and intro and a little  tour   doesnt  sound that   hard….and i  think we have  some  who  ca n  do powerpoint…we already own a  copy of a tv ad we  ran last  YEAR….

  • @annfurnivall

Are you making any progress on your video?

  • I did a quick video on the new FB biz timeline changes in March and last I checked, over 1000 people had viewed it. I was shocked at how easy it was. Am definitely going to do more.

  • @warrenveach no,  we are   just  swamped  with  what we  do already…the more i hear, like  from  cas above  the better it  sounds,,,, its  still on the list…

.this month we have  2  big events and  a 3 day buying trip   and  the  store has  been  so busy…..im  still hoping to pay s omeone  to  come in and   do it  for us….  i have a good subject   in mind….

  • @warrenveach thanks again……today i  had my  tekk person  look thru  your post and links  and   it was  wonderful….she  had never  thought of just  doing  power poin t for a start……so it was a real  eye opening  thing….and  we might  be starting on it    tomorrow…she whipped up  something  pretty nice in  just a few minutes…we already have a channel….im  excited and hope to look at lots  more  places   on there  tonight…

so  GLAD I FOUND THIS PLACE!!

  • @annfurnivall

A full blown how-to video might require something fancier, but starting with a powerpoint is quite acceptable.

Getting something online is the goal, and there is nothing wrong with starting off simply and building from there.

Good luck! I can’t wait to see what y’all come up with.
