What to look for in Hiring a Social Media Director (3 posts)

  • When hiring someone to handle a small business’s social media experience, what criteria should be used in the selection process?  What expenses should this business expect to incur?  Hourly or Salary?  Does it make a difference?

  • @dianeskullrI feel a lot of the selection would be similar to any position: experience, professionalism, how they fit in w/the tenor of the company you’re building (especially important in a small biz!) etc.The only thing I’d add is take a look at how robust their online network is. Social media managers with a small Twitter following or a missing avatar for FB or LI carry a really big red flag.

  • So how would you define a successful social media director?
