What pricing scheme would you adopt? (4 posts)

  • How would you charge a small account that needs to immediately penetrate the market and break the records in creating awareness / versus a short period of time?
NB: Assuming the contract is for a whole working year.

1- Would you charge a lump-sum that will be Prorata paid and measured by the result?2- Would you submit a quarterly proposal?3- Would you submit an hourly rate and you forecast the number of hours you would probably need to achieve the expected results?4- Any other measurable scenario (Please clarify)

  • I would determine how many hours I would need to dedicate to the project. And based on what I need to earn per hour.week.month.  Then I might offer a Lump Sum payable in monthly installments for the period of time of the contract.  This is in a manner forecasting the hours needed.Does that make sense to you?

  • I would agree on a set amount monthly based on the average hours you will put in each month. I would not disclose my calculation as they are not concerned with your hours but results. Decide how much time you can/will devote to this monthly and compute your fee. Then tell them that to get to where they want to be, it will be $xxx monthly. I would also recommend that you set them up on a Paypal subscription payment. This way their credit card is automatically billed and you don’t spend 3-4 days each month wondering if the money is coming.

  • @trudy

I am not against a retainer fee scenario but I believe in this case charging monthly wouldn’t be ideal cause it is true that the contract is annual and i wouldn’t put myself in a situation to break down my prices to a point where the client would be able to assess and conclude the working hours am putting on this project versus the rate. I prefer to leave it quarterly and allow a margin of flexibility while keeping the transparency factor intact.

@tracourt I like the pay pal idea it is easy for both us and the clients.
