What do you think are the essential daily social media tasks? (8 posts)

  • I was just wondering what everyone thought the essential daily tasks are for social media. Is it writing a blog post a day or posting to Facebook everyday or commenting on other peoples posts everyday.

A list like this would come in handy!

  • @amyhallbiz

Since I manage five different “profiles” for our company I try to do something specific to each or something that transcends all of them. I like to find articles for sharing that provide information. Also, I go on related business/school pages and look for interesting posts. For some of the programs I share something the University main page shared. If there is one article that I can post that works for all of the pages then I try to post on one that has fewer likes and then re-share from the other accounts. I do the same for Twitter and Google+ which many times leads to cross-following if the student is interested in other programs. I try to change the type of posts regularly so there is variety and I try including questions to solicit responses.

  • Finding posts, writing posts, send posts, sharing posts, finding posts pretty much covers my day for social media.

  • Your activities should correspond with your unique purpose for being on social media. An example: if you are just starting your business, you need answers and people who have already discovered the pitfalls you want to avoid. You’ll want to spend time in the Social Media Examiner Small Business Club, getting to know people, asking questions, and looking for free information.

You’ll also be more consistent (and probably more successful) if you do what you love. Can’t stand to write? A daily blog may be a stretch for you while posting on Facebook or Twitter (only 120 characters) seems more like a conversation than writing.

  • There are actually many social media tasks, but an essentiali one is about building relationships with my customer prospects everyday. Encourage comments, retweets, and facebook posts.

  • really glad you asked this, I need the answer, too @amyhallbiz

  • @amyhallbiz I think it’s finding and creating content what can be interesting for our customers and followers. I write a blogpost a week (I should write more) and I post to our Facebook Page every day.
    I agree! @fernandocortes

  • For me, writing every day is essential. (I haven’t done it well in the past, but it’s a commitment I’ve made for 2012.) I don’t necessarily post every day, but I do spend at least 20 minutes writing every day. I think daily writing keeps me inspired and motivated.

Other essential daily social media tasks:

    • Liking/commenting on other blogs
    • Sharing relevant articles via Twitter or Facebook
    • Thanking those who have RT or shared my posts
    • Reading, reading and more reading!
