What Creative Ways Have you used Mind Mapping? (5 posts)

  • I have used it for competition’s websites, what other ideas can we use it in our businesses?

  • Great question @charltnshelton-socialmediainterpreter

I just recently used a Apple i Pad app called inShort.

First I brainstormed upgrades to add to my software product, next I ranked these in upgrades in correlation to how important I thought they were.  1 meant they should be programmed immediatly and 2, 3 etc.

After I ranked and graded these upgrades I used inShort to create a mindmap showing how, when and why, I could complete these upgrades and get to my end goal.

It allowed me to bring my business plan current and plan ahead for the future at the same time. I love mind mapping and suggest it to anyone serious about setting a goal and then achieving it.

    Great question Charlyn.

  • I have used mind mapping extensively in the past for brainstorming and for Relational Database design. Never used it for site design as I focus on small businesses with fairly simple sites. Would definitely use it if I were doing a large corporate site. Unlike an outliner, mind maps allow you to build a hierarchical structure and then add additional links for relationships between branch nodes.

  • Thanks @theodoresturos and @johndevries, I am one of those right brian types that have a hard time getting the focus, these both were terrific ideas.  I appreciate you helping me!

  • i like it a lot..but never used  software…that sounds  pretty   controlling…..i usually  pick a  subject… money  or   our  cupboards or  advertizing….  and  put it in the middle of  a  big piece of paper….  say its money….then one line goes out  for   retail, one for wholesale, one for ????,one  for  shows…one  for  online sales,,,,one  for  under  30…one f or  over  30… one  for  events….from the retail   arm i might  have little  sidelines   and  go  further to lake people,  mothers, rehabbers…..  its  pretty neat….and  seeing  it   is  kind of like seeing   an info graphic of  a part of  your  business….  …i like it  becasue it  lets  you  see a  very  big picture all at once….usually i  get  some new insight   from doing it,,,
