Webinar Vendors (17 posts)

  • Okay SME networkers, I need your assistance. I am looking for an alternative to WebEx for our (usually) twice monthly member-only sessions. I have looked at GoToWebinar, ReadyTalk, ON24, Meeting Burner, Livestream, Zipcast, Adobe Connect 9, anymeeting, iLinc and megameeting already.

Some specs:*Average is 35 attendees*Generally sharing PowerPoints with an occasional video*Needs to be able to record the session audio and slides

The caveat is that we hold an open session once per quarter that attracts over 100 attendees so the platform should be scalable.

    Thoughts?

  • Look at WowWe. for $20 a month you can have 100 seat room, 12 people on camera, everyone can be a presenter if you wish. White board, file sharing, power points etc. You also get a video email package with that as well. At the end of August that capacity goes up with different packages. I love to send you more info if you would like.

  • @kc_kreative Sit down and write out ALL your requirements.  You mentioned a few.  List them in a spreadsheet.  Then across the top list the web software.  You should be able to down load a trial of any of them, if not call the company.
Then you go through each requirement for one of the software providers marking a grade in each requirement…

    • 0 – doesn’t meet requirement
    • 3 – meets requirements but hard to use
    • 5 – meets requirements and is easy to use.
Do this for each software provider.  Add up the totals.  Where the software doesn’t meet the requirements…how can you mitigate the requirement.  The software with the most points wins.
This is the process I used to use selecting multi-million dollar software – manymore requirement, more complicated software……but it works on all sizes of software and provide an objective view in you are asked later.

  • @trudyd1474 I have started the spreadsheet but I like the number system.

  • To be clear, I haven’t “used” webinar systems but I have attended many and get a lot of my training and certifications through various systems the trainers use.

One particular trainer was trying everything and although cost was a factor, functionality and reliability were key.  I told him Go To Webinar was the cadillac of systems because whenever I attended and that software was used, I was never dropped, 1% problems with audio or video, it provided a system that once I signed up there were reminders and the ability to upload the webinar details to my Outlook.

He tried the trial version and never looked back.  Still uses it today after 2 years with GoToWebinar.

For small meetings for individual clients and small team group members, I use Join Me free version but I am not sure of the capabilities for the bigger corporate meetings.

  • @kc_kreative Not sure about your budget, but Stealth Webinar might be an option. Free Conferencing records audio, but I am not sure about the slides and voice sync.

  • @kc_kreative you could also compare Brighttalk in your chart, it’s very reliable and widely spread – it would be interesting to learn what you pick in the end :)

  • @kc_kreative I understand that Free Conferencing only gives you free audio recording, but their related product Start Meeting allows recording http://www.startmeeting.com/features  I have not used it before, as so far I have been able to use the audio and send my slides in pdf format.

Again, though, you do need to really make a chart or grid to decide which scores highest and then also fits your budget best. I’ve used GoToWebinar, but do find that many businesses feel the monthly fees are too high now.

  • @mikedigaetano

Thanks for the information. I will definitely look at WowWe.

  • Your welcome @jackburgin For the price point it can be beat. They own their own servers and have been very stable every time I have used them. They are going to give Go To Meeting a run for their money when the new upgrade comes out later this month. Can you say LANGUAGE TRANSLATION? with less then a half second of latency!!!

  • @kc_kreative I agree with Mike, this system is the best as far as cost and it handles most that others don’t at a price point you can’t beat ever. I or he can give you a demo if you would like to see.. Just let me know or him. Which ever you prefer since he answered the forum first.

    @joanmuschampfagnani @mikedigaetano @jackburgin @daniela-previtali @dcoville001 @trudyd1474

  • @dcoville001 I have used GoToMeeting before and liked it. Just seeing if anything new has popped up since a few years ago. I really like ON24 from the attendee aspect and their demo video makes the admin side look easy to manage too.

@joanmuschampfagnani Thanks for Stealth Webinar. I’ll check it out.

@daniela-previtali Duh! I have a personal account so I’ll look into that platform as well. I will try to post my decision and a spreadsheet :)

@mikedigaetano I’ve never heard of WowWe. I definitely need flexibility in moving my attendee/seat number up and down per quarter w/o the hassle of changing a contract every time!

  • @kc_kreative

I use GoToWebinar. It has recording features, but from what I’ve heard they don’t come close to matching what you can do with ScreenFlow (mac) or Camtasia (PC), so don’t let that be a deciding factor for you.

  • @rich-brooks Thanks Rich. I never do the presenting tho :)

    Quick update.

@joanmuschampfagnani Thank you fro Start Meeting! It looks like it might fit the bill AND our CTO already had a call scheduled with one of their sales guys (i.e. discount code!).

@daniela-previtali BrightTalk doesn’t quite offer all the options I need at the price I can afford. It is a very slick system for sure.

Just re-checked Meeting Burner and the Pro account might work. I have a Twitter friend who uses it.

Okay, time to update the spreadsheet and keep evaluating. Thanks everybody!

  • @kc_kreative I will look forward to hearing your results, and more importantly the experience of anything you choose.

  • Can you do a hangout on Google+ I see them popping up a lot now. I’ve used GotoMeeting quite a bit it feels like terrible software but it seems to work really well and others we’ve played with seem not to.

  • Yes, most of the people I know use GoToWebinar because of its reliability. I tried a smaller provider but it was unreliable. I should check out some of the options like WowWe or Stealth though.
