WebAccess for Outlook Email (11 posts)

  • Can someone please help me?   I just acquired a new client who uses Outlook for email and I am working remotely for them and want to be able to access their Outlook account for email management.
I have Outlook on my computer and tried the login and pass that they use but was not able to login.  I received a message saying it was invalid.

Is there a way to access Outlook remotely?  Does it depend on their version of Outlook?
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,
    Seleana

  • @seleanaw I believe it depends on the domain. For us we go to mail.<our domain>.com/exchange and then are able to login. I would have your client speak to their IT department or whomever sets up accounts to find out the exact address of the exchange account to be able to access Outlook.

    Hope this helps!

  • @seleanaw also, a side note, since your computer wouldn’t be set up on their server with domain settings you wouldn’t be able to get your Outlook to connect. The IT department or your client would need to provide all of the set up and domain settings granting permissions. Hopefully you are able to get the exchange access to work remotely. Good Luck!

  • @seleanaw If they are not in the Microsoft “cloud” (Office 365) then while I am not positive, I think they must be on an Exchange server. They should have a specific link. There may be another way, but that is what I am familiar with…one question I have is whey they/you are running their email marketing through Outlook.

  • @Joanmuschampfagnani, it’s not their email marketing, they want me to help them sort through emails and get rid of clutter.
Thanks for the advice, I will check with them.

@alexandrabriggs, Thanks.  I will also check this out.

  • @seleanaw

Perhaps as part of your services you could get them onto a cloud solution, either Microsoft or Gmail…

  • @Rich Brooks, yes! Thank you.

  • @seleanaw There is also a service called PC Anywhere, if they get that then you can access their computer and be able to access their email.. I know there are controls which only allow admin and guests to be able to see what is on the computer. You have to have a lot of trust from the client, but it could work.

  • Thanks everyone for the great input. I will let you know how it turns out.

  • Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to give you a quick update regarding this subject.  My client has an account with LogMeIn which allows remote access to a computer from anywhere.  So now I can access her account on Outlook.
Check it out on http://www.logmein.com if you have not ever heard of it before.  It is a pretty useful tool.  They offer both free and paid accounts.

Check it out and let me know what you think about it.
