Video / Webinar Hosting Service Recommendations? (9 posts)

  • I have been recording 90 minute paid webinars and then sending out links to the audio and slides to attendees.

I’d like to offer the webinar as a whole (audio and video) but I’m not sure where I can host it. Most free hosting environments don’t offer password protection (which I want to ensure the value of the paid ticket) or they don’t offer enough space.

In a perfect world people could:

    1. Watch the video
    2. Download the video
If I could only get the files available for download that would certainly be acceptable. Recommendations?

  • @rich-brooks You might look at CommPartners: http://www.commpartners.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=145&Itemid=18. I was going to investigate them and ON24 as a replacement to WebEx. I’m going to follow this to see what other members have to say!

Our replay links are open after the fact; however only members may attend some of the presentations (the research ones are open to everyone).

I’d also be interested in getting “clips” of the presentation to use on the main website as a teaser and then I would post the full presentation behind the membership login.

  • @rich-brooks You might look at YouSendIt – not sure if it meets everything you need but might be worth a look

  • Google+ Hangouts might work, however, I understand a lot of people are having issues with video at hangouts. So, probably not an option until they have all the bugs worked out.

Have you looked at vimeo.com? Not a free service, but they’ve been around a very long time and some people swear by vimeo for video. Around $60 a year for a pro account, (I think). I’ve not used them, but know some folks who have and love the service.

I’m not sure I understand, are you looking for basic hosting? OR video sharing with comment capability?  Doesn’t YouTube do this?

I’m also not a big video “knowledgeable” person, so don’t go by me.

Just off the top of my head, can’t you host your video at YouTube then put it on a blog for download and viewing? I’ve done this on a WordPress blog but don’t know if anyone is interested in downloading the video, so don’t have stats on that to prove anything either way. Host your webinar wherever you want but send folks to the blog to download.

For a webinar – I found this one by search:  http://www.anymeeting.com/ Well, it’s free but I have no clue about if it works well.  Just chiming in.

    :D

  • @rich-brooks

Have you thought about hosting them on the same account that your websites are on?

Then create a password protected page on your site for access to paying customers?

  • @scottmadden The videos would overwhelm my space and bandwidth issues in no time…I feel I need a dedicated video sharing option.

@supereb These are recorded webinars, and from what I understand about Hangouts, they’re a lot like Skype, so I don’t think this will work. I have Vimeo on my shortlist, so I’ll check them out for sure. $60/yr seems REALLY cheap! Hope you’re right.

@joanmuschampfagnani That might work, or Dropbox would be another option, too.

    @kc_kreative Thanks, I’ll take a peek.

  • @rich-brooks

I use hostmonster and don’t have that issue as they have unlimited space and bandwidth. On one account I have 30+ sites hosted (several have videos) been with them for a couple of years now and haven’t had any problems.

  • @rich-brooks- Let’s talk.. I may have a solution.. $20.00/ month- but I maybe able to allow you to use my service center if need be… 90 minutes we can do 20 min segments and that could work or I will talk to a friend.

  • @rich-brooks – How much bandwith it will take up?
