Video Marketing (15 posts)

  • Hi…my background is in video and video production. I want to offer video marketing to clients as an additional income stream. I would like to start a thread with like-minded people on here. We can discuss tools, strategies, content, etc and hopefully together we can come up with a comprehensive way of offering this service.

  • @goswick Offer video production to clients whose target market is people who love to watch videos. If you convince someone who markets to avid readers that video is the way to go, you both may lose customers unless you also include a transcript for free.

  • Hi Debbie…I feel strongly that video will be watched more and more by anyone that is searching for a product or services. I know I’d rather watch a 2-3 minute video on a product or service that read a page of text. Also video does a much better job describing certain that text does. For example; it is much clearer to show someone how to do a push-up rather than describe it in detail in words. Also video is a visual as well as words. This is my thoughts…I subscribe to the theory that men are more visual. may say lazy….;)

  • At the top of my to-do list for this year is adding video to both my personal training and food coaching businesses.  I’m both excited and a bit nervous about it.  (The equipment I need is sitting in my Amazon cart, waiting for me to hit the BUY button.)

My angle is to try and present myself and my subjects in a way they’re not already being done.  For example, there are many YouTube videos about exercising for women over 40,” but most lack quality audio and video, and the production is poorly executed.

  • Beth the best tip I can give you is be sure to have great audio. People will forgive fair to good video but not bad audio.

  • That’s what I’ve read, @goswick, which is why I’m buying a camcorder with a jack for external audio, as well as a desktop mic and pop filter for recording webinars.  The extra audio stuff is very reasonably priced, so there’s no reason not to do it!

  • Beth – for the microphone that you will be using for webinar’s i suggest a USB mic. I have a Blue Yeti and it is great.  http://www.bluemic.com/yeti/

You can get the at B&H in New York. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=blue+yeti&N=0&InitialSearch=yes

  • @goswick I had this one in my basket.  Your thoughts?  Price is essentially the same.

  • your link doesn’t work. Please try again

  • How’s this:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AS6OYC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

  • @bethnovick I don’t know anything about that particular model but Audio-Technica is a good brand. I do believe Blue is made in the US…not sure about the A/T.

I did a Google search for ‘compare Audio-Technica AT2020 and blue yeti’and found this review  http://technology.ezinemark.com/audio-technica-at2020-or-blue-yeti-the-best-all-round-usb-microphone-31cebfcd859.html  along with many others.

  • Wow, a neck-and-neck review!  Nice to know they’re both good products.  Thanks for the info, @goswick.

  • I use video primarily for SEO purposes but starting to produce more “how to” videos for webinars. What program(s) do you like to use for editing?

  • Hi  @davidwalizer I have both Sony Vegas Pro 11 and Adobe Premier Pro but Sony is my main editing tool.

  • Recently bought a video training package . My focus this year is to get really educated in video marketing. I would much rather watch a video then read everything.
