Video Marketing – What success have you had? (16 posts)

  • Our handmade Thai silk business has started to use video marketing, in particular YouTube and video blogs, to generate targeted traffic to our website. It’s early days yet for any tangible results although we have noticed that it’s far easier to rank higher in Google search results with keyword focused video content. Care to share you experiences?

  • @amnuaibeckenham

I’ve been doing video marketing on and off for a while now, and it kills me that I’m not doing more!

I’ve seen our videos rank well for targeted keywords, and I’ve also seen that our conversion rate for YouTube referral traffic is 700% higher than our average site visitor!

I need to do a better job of being consistent w/our video marketing efforts.

Here are my tips for doing better with video:

    • Use your keywords in your title
    • Use your keywords in your description
    • Use your keywords in your tags
    • Use your keywords in your narrative — YouTube listens to the words you use and uses that as part of the algorithm when returning results on searches!

    Hope this helps.

  • @rich-brooks

Thank you Rich. I agree that video content is a rapidly growing way to rank for targeted keywords and have increased conversions.

Great tips and I would add two more that very few people are doing.

Firstly provide a transcript to YouTube of your video – they are experimenting now with automated transcripts but this gives you the chance to again have your keywords recognized by both Google and YouTube search engines.

Secondly use the annotations tags to create a call to action or direct viewers to do something

  • @amnuaibeckenham and @rich-brooks really appreciate these tips! One of my goals for 2012 is to use video consistently throughout my marketing.

  • Good luck with your video marketing  @stefaniefrank – if there is anything I may be able to help you with just let me know. Happy to share

  • Video marketing is HOT HOT HOT!    I agree completely with what @rich-brooks has shared.

During the recent Google+ update to the business pages my original (and award winning)  Youtube account was deleted.  Since there are no humans, I have not been able to get it back.  Yet,  that originally channel was a big part in my success this past year.  I started taping the sessions I was teaching and made them into a series.   I added all the SEO I could to them (read @rich-brooks post as that is exactly what I did)  It took about 3 months before they started going viral.  Holy cow!  In less than a year those Youtube videos went around the world.  I had over 2000 subscribers who found me through Youtube and the other social media networks that I shared them on.   I was just getting ready to make them into products when Google deleted that account by mistake.

Now I have a new Youtube account.  I would highly recommend video marketing because I know what it has done for me, and many of my followers who have watched what I did with it.

I have also taken the video marketing to a new level.  I purchased Camtasia and have been playing with creating motivational videos and more.  Who would have thought?  Those videos really go viral.  Here are two examples of what I have been doing.  This is my holiday card for this year   Happy Holidays  and this is one of my inspirational videos. Happiness

Many people who are using Youtube for business start with Do it Yourself types of videos and a simple camcorder like the Flip and Kodak Z18
All I can say from my experience is JUST DO IT!

  • Thanks for your interesting post @randithompsonbut I would really like to know why YouTube cancelled your account. After all the work you done to get your videos generating quality traffic it must have been a disaster to find your account suddenly deleted!

    I would have been mortified!

Can you share any reasons with us so we can avoid this type of catastrophe happening to us and do you have in place a plan if this happens to you again?

  • @amnuaibeckenham  A great strategy we use for our clients is Video Blast Plan this consists of;

!00 30-60 second instructional videos or top questions you should ask a business, top questions that should be asked of the business

This is how we distribute the videos:

    40 videos on youtube
    20 videos on Facebook
20 videos placed in a members only page
    20 videos delivered by email

This plan will get your videos ranked quickly and many of them will be found in the top of search engine results

  • Thank you @rlmoscafor outlining this Video Blast Strategy – sounds great to me.
I’m not sure I could come up with 100 top questions peoples should ask us about handmade Thai silk.
We have created 2 FAQ videos that looks at the top 12 questions but to find the balance of 88 would be quite a challenge for us.

  • @amnuaibeckenham  I have no clue as to why that account was deleted.  It was during the Google+ changes with the new business pages.   As I went through the process I found that this happened to more than a few people. There are no humans at Youtube or Google who deal with this.  I sent messages everywhere.  No response.  So, what could I do?  I had so much success with the videos on that chanel that I lost that I have now started over.  The title is much better this time. So maybe this was what I needed to get the right title?  I lost over 300 videos that were maxed up with the descriptions and annotations.   I have some of them on my hard drive, but the thought of re doing everything all over again is so big that I have not been able to add them to the new account.

  • @amnuaibeckenham You can adjust the amount of videos and still use the strategy I listed.

  • Thank you Rick  @rlmosca

  • @amnuaibeckenham If you need any help setting up the strategy for this let me know.

  • I’ve been laying out a “content marketing” strategy for 2012. Video figures PROMINENTLY in those plans. Video has become part of the everyday language of the Internet — and will only increase. If you’re not using video in your marketing, it’s difficult to be in the conversation.

For all the reasons that Rich and Randi stated so perfectly. And I figured, since I produce video for businesses, I had better be making use of video in my own efforts. The old “show ‘em how it’s done” approach.

I’m working on tips to help businesses produce high quality video for VLOGs and other short, FAQ, quick tips type video. The kind of video that can be produced inexpensively, fast and often. I’ll be sharing these on my blog and through my YouTube channel.

If you have questions, or would like some help, hit me up and I can give you some tips. I’m happy to help if you need it!

  • Awesome responses! Yes, take to the next level and be sure to place your link at the top of your description on YouTube and ask your audience to take action. You also need to share the videos on Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, and Google+ with comments in order to further rank/propagate each video. With personal and company SM accounts, you should be able to do this in a hurry.

  • @randithompson @rich-brooks@rlmosca  @pronoya @seancookceo-salyrisstudios
