Using Google+ ’s HangOut for Customer Support (12 posts)

  • Hello everyone! I have been reading around about people using Google+’s new HangOut feature to help customers or just as a general support. You can host team meetings and webinars as well I think but the idea of using it for customer support really interests me and I wanted to know if anybody here has tried it, or at least heard of it being used this way? I would love to utilize this for my business but not sure how or if it’s even doable. If anyone can give any insight to this I’d really appreciate it!Thanks!

  • I participated in a G+ Hangout with author John Morgan “Brand Against the Machine” where we and 4 others just chatted about marketing, publishing and writing. It was an excellent experience and as soon as my book’s audience reaches a point where I can get 2-3 people at a time together, I plan on scheduling regular hangouts with my readers.

I see hangouts as a great tool for building relationships but also for remote teams. Currently my team uses Skype to communicate but we may try Hangouts so we can do video as well as audio.

Finally, I want to use it to record ’casts. I have a podcast “Voices of the ElePHPant” right now that I’d love to record with Hangout. Still working through the details on that but from what I understand, it posts directly to your youtube page for you. That makes it very convenient to build a solid body of youtube content.

  • @calevans I didn’t know it posted directly to your YouTube channel. That’s awesome! Too bad my google+ page is not on the same account as my YouTube account!

  • @sgsrecording

Thats what I understand, I’ve not tried it yet. (iirc, TWiG is where I got that from, that or BeanCast)

WRT different Google accounts, it took me about 2 days to get everything traight but I finally have everything under a single account.

  • We have been using the Google+ hangout to work on a project that we cannot work on during the work day. It is for a new product and we cannot take time from the other work that we have. It’s great. I even used it to ‘hangout’ with my family in another state on Christmas day.

I would love to learn more about posting the hangout on YouTube!

  • @sgsrecording I just saw a Tweet from Mashable about Coca-Cola holding a Hangout next week. Here’s the article link:  http://mashable.com/2012/02/10/coca-cola-google-plus/

  • @sgsrecording, Perhaps a twist on customer support, but I’m considering using G+ Hangouts as an easy way to connect with students in between classes. Especially my 6 month Marketing Roundtable, as a place where they could verbally bounce ideas off each other. I think technology is just waiting for ideas to happen :)

  • I’m curious. Could you tell me more about your 6 month marketing round table?

  • I just started using Google+ Hangouts and find them very interesting. It’s like going to events all over the world at the speed of light.

  • Could some of you share more of what Google+ Hangouts are?
    Thanks

  • @rebeccacohen  Google+ Hangsouts is basically a video chatroom within Google+. You schedule a hangout then everyone gets on their webcams and you can chat or watch a presentation within the hangout.

  • @morganbarnhart
Thank you Morgan, I appreciate your sharing with me what Google+Hangouts are.
I am going to have to check this out.
    Thanks so much
