Hi Everyone,
I am looking for advice on how to deal with account squatters on Twitter and does anybody know if there is a process to free up a Twitter username that isn’t being used?
Most likely they are the same people who sit on domain names……they do it for the money.
There is a process to get an account verified by twitter if you have a legitimate claim to the name.
@chatmarketing I don’t know but it would be helpful to learn
@pinkhamedia Jeff, it’s for a colleague of mine that was asking and I said I would try to find out for them. Any idea what the link would be for the account verification you mentioned?
Currently, twitter account verification is closed. But you can file a report through this website http://support.twitter.com/articles/18366-impersonation-policy
@pinkhamedia thanks Jeff!
“In order to be impersonation, they must also pretend to be another person in order to mislead or deceive.”
So an inactive account in itself is not reason to take over the account.
You are right Mac. Verification is tough mostly reserved for celebrities. Brands and bloggers, Social Media type.
