Twitter Chat/Party? Where do I start? (6 posts)

  • Have any of you ever hosted a twitter party?  I have no idea where to start!

  • I have never hosted a twitter party. I’ve never even been invited to one! I hope you can share with us your results and tell us how it goes.

  • Matt, I have attended many Twitter parties.

Jaime, I have held 3 Twitter parties for my clients.  2 of the 3 were successful.

Defining what is success first can help you plan your strategy.  Success means many different things to many different people.

Most important…1. Advertise the Twitter party for at least 7-10 days & choose an easy hashtag.2. Plan to have several people handling the party with defined duties.  It is difficult to have one person manage the inbound and outbound tweets.

    Good Luck

  • @jaimetyler I’ve never hosted but I did attend one that was by FedEx. It was an hour long, and they asked about 9 questions. Every other question, they gave a $25 Amex giftcard to the best answer to rile up the tweets.

They also had a guest tweeter from SmallBizTrends to help the answers flow which also got a bunch of RTing.

It was actually very fun! I did write an article about it if you want to check it out:

Good luck! [And they had a full transcript PDF of all the attendees for further publishing afterwards]

  • @cindywatts @alice-ly Thanks for the advice!

  • Your very welcome!  Let us know when you have your Twitter Party.  I would love to participate and spread the news.Cindy
