Twitter and Sales (9 posts)

  • Hello!

I was wanting some thoughts or opinions regarding twitter and inside sales reps.  I was hoping to get our reps onboard with social media and wanted to find ways to help them grow their relationships with existing and potential clients.  Does anyone have experience with this?

    Thanks,

    Jaime

  • Hi @jaimetyler

You know there is a lot of information out there about this very thing.  Here is one article to get you a good start —

How Twitter Can Help Your Sales Team

    Simple and straight forward.

  • @jaimetyler There’s an app to help you connect with potential customers, NeedTagger. It could be operated right from inside your Hootsuite account.

@supereb Thanks for sharing the post, it’s really useful.

  • @supereb great share!@jaimetyler one thing you may want to keep in mind is who owns the Twitter handles. Do they belong to the reps, or the company? This has become an issue for many companies when an employee builds up a big following as a company rep, then leaves. At flyte I let everyone own their own, but you may prefer to keep the handles (and followers) when they leave. Also, some companies require employees to include a company name in their handle, like @name_ctct for Constant Contact.

  • Good tips @rich-brooks
I basically “victomized” my previous company. I had been using my personal twitter, instagram and pinterest id to share project pictures. Then I left.

My own strategy (excuse) for this process is that I wanted to build my own following. The posting was not in my “job description”  so I was doing it completely on my own anyway. So, the heck with them, right?

  • HI @rich-brooks

I read a lot about that in the past couple of years – this past year there were lawsuits filed and everything. Fun reading because I was not involved. Heh.

    HI @bob-green

I would be careful about your personal accounts for a business you work for in the future or have a waiver signed by them as to the fact that you brought your personal accounts with you into their company.  Really, it has become a big deal for the big corps.

  • @supereb I’m going to try my hardest to never work for another company as long as I live! Hoping I can stay solo now.

  • HI @bob-green —

As a web developer and consultant, I work for everyone who is willing to listen (pay) and implement – not just for me.

Thanks so much for the info!
