TweetChat/Twitter Chats (8 posts)

  • Have you (or a client) used TweetChat or other Twitter Chat to interact and have a discussion/conversation?

This is curiosity, because I finally “attended” one and was not enchanted. It felt “flat” to me. Am I missing something?

  • @joanmuschampfagnani

I haven’t. Not sure why one would need a service on top of Twitter.

When I’ve attended ones in the past (often through Blogworld) there’s just a hashtag, ala #bwechat, and people use the hashtag in both the question and the answer.

Great way to stay on top of the conversation, but no need for additional software.

  • Tweetchat has no allure for me either. Conversation is easy at twitter, once you know how to keep track. I actually don’t see the need.  Becoming an experienced tweeter seems all that is needed.

I agree with @rich-brooks on this.  The hashtag can bring multiple people together and be the very benefit that allows a wider audience to converse on any given subject.

  • I have a different opinion. I’ve been involved with chats using TweetChat and I found it quite useful. I loved that I didn’t have to remember to add the hashtag to each tweet. I also loved that having only the chat available kept me focused on it. I tend to multitask if I can get to other lists easily, like I do when I’m using Hootsuite.

TweetChat certainly isn’t necessary, but I find it helpful.

Nice to know someone uses and appreciates the service. I have a pretty web savvy friend who doesn’t use hashtags because she doesn’t like the way they make her tweets look.  After much explanation, she now attaches them to the end of a tweet gladly.

Even experienced people have a hard time with finding the benefit in hashtagging. SO, the same may be true with TweetChat – will give it another look but since time is a factor for all of us, it may still be something I may not use. But like with many things – never say never! Heh.

  • I’m still trying to get twitter working for me! @joanmuschampfagnani

  • @deairby What problem are you having with Twitter?

  • A while back, someone shared this Google doc within one of the SME networking clubs, so perhaps it may be appreciated in this discussion. It’s a list of (almost) all twitter chats out there, close to 589 listed, so it’s interesting to see there’s a bit of something for almost everybody out there… ;-)
