What Small Biz Blogs Do You Recommend? (TOTW: 3.4.2013) (11 posts)

  • Yes, I know…this isn’t the blogging club!

However, I’m curious to know if you have certain small business bloggers that you regularly read or even subscribe to.

Who are the voices that help fuel your small business passion?

  • @rich-brooks

No I don’t have any favorites from the small biz or big biz blog world – or anywhere in between.

I read articles from everywhere.  I do consider the source when studies are completed and pay attention to who is interpreting them too.

I don’t look for inspiration from without, although I do get a lot of ideas when I read other studies and try to tie in new information with older, proven procedures.

I also can’t say I take to heart what many “gurus” out there tout, unless of course, I happen to agree on some point of contention.

I think I have been around on the web so long that I am jaded to a certain extent. There is a LOT of trash out there – but then again – “one mans trash is another mans treasure.”

Now watch as I try to list some favorites later – because there are some I read each and every day! Heh.

  • dont  you  thnk  social media  has pushed    out  the  blogs   a bit?   just  being on here   puts  you in  contact with  so many  places…

itty biz  stands out..and grandma mary……most arent  written for me…brick and mortar…and   well developed  not just starting out….facebook is our main  social thing and  im guessing  we have   over 3000 fans  who we know   in a face to face way[out of  4800 fb  fans]….  that situation isnt  covered much….  ………

.. im so organic… and have    really  good interewoven  marketing in place..which i  dont  want to replace  for  something without  really  good  reasons……always  looking  for more and better tho… the  drucker method!!! i  really like that idea…

IMHO, social networks come and go but blogs are forever. ;)

There will always be a place for social networks, like Facebook, but when I want meaty content that will help my business grow, I find that content on blogs (and occasionally podcasts, webinars and videos.)

Some of my favorite business blogs out there right now include Social Triggers, The Sales Lion, and Duct Tape Marketing.

Oh, and of course Social Media Examiner!

  • I always read:
    http://www.superfastbusiness.com
    http://inform.ly/blog/
    http://blog.kissmetrics.com/
    http://blog.hubspot.com/
    http://conversionxl.com/blog/

Plus a few others already mentioned. All lean a little more towards online marketing but always takeaways for small businesses. I apply many things I learn from them to my own.
I consume more podcasts than I read blogs though.

  • I love The Sales Lion and Grow.

  • @Rapid_Advance Small Business Blog

We understand your need to access available cash to keep your business strong and successful. We also understand small business owners’ need to have access to informational resources and stay abreast of developments that affect their finances, so we’ve established this blog to help push that information out to our valuable customers!

  • Skyline EmpireStarted off as a fashion couture blog doe women, but has started transition towards an all around small business blog, as well. They supply information from sites like Social Media examiner (Which is how I actually came across this discussion), and others, but encourage not only the reading and following back to the blogs they share, but also to share them with others. In particular, I love them because of their simple sharing and Pinterest feel. I can share my content, or others content same as Pinterest, and people will re-pin it either because they followed back and enjoyed what I shared, or simply because they like the photo content that went with the piece. It really is a cool and innovative way to combine different blogs, mixed in with simple photo posts, for others to easily read and or simply share. I was skeptical, as they seemed to attract people from their Couture page on Facebook, but, it works. They attract them with Fashion and other popular media content on Facebook, lead them to the site, and people seem to stick around to Pin, and share. I’m a believer.

  • Thanks everyone! There are some I read regularly, some that were brand new that I’ll have to check out. :)

  • Hiya Folks.

@rich-brooks – same here – some I already know and some to check on.

    I also have a new favorite!  http://www.themarketingagents.com/

I can’t say I hit it everyday but I’ve already started sending some of the links to clients so they can stay updated with video changes and more – I am sorely lacking in the video area!

    Eileen :)
