Social Media Plans for 2013? (TOTW: 12.9.2012) (15 posts)

  • Oh yes. It’s that time of year again. Time for the inevitable looking back/looking forward.

    Let’s start with looking forward.

What do you expect to start or stop doing, or otherwise change in 2013?

    I’ll get us started:

I’m starting a side project (you know, with all my free time ;) ) that will include a blog, podcast and YouTube channel.

I’m going to start to get more of my coworkers involved with our company blog and turn it from my own personal soap box into more of a collaborative space where designers, developers and marketers can talk about how to build websites and online marketing campaigns that work.

I AM going to attend the Social Media Marketing World in San Diego this year! (Hope to see you there.)

I also plan on growing my beard back, but I don’t think that has anything to do with social media.

    And you?

  • @rich-brooks I plan on better tracking conference registrations using Google Analytics. We need to grow membership so I’m collaborating with my co-worker on possible marketing efforts.

Personally, I want to fully launch my consulting business with a new website (vs. domain forward) and blog. This means doing more presentations too. No beard for me :) However, I would like to step up my exercise routine a notch since I’ve hit a plateau, perhaps start taking riding lessons again.

  • Happy Monday Morn’n’ Folks.

For social media it will be full speed ahead with Google+.  Aside from the obvious SEO benefits I want to branch out there more. I have a nice account going, and will be adding and updating what I already have there; adding multiple business pages.

    I also don’t plan to grow a beard –  @rich-brooks

  • In 2013, I plan to communicate more effectively across all major platforms.  I have geared up already by updating my profiles and creating one place where people can follow all of My Social Sites.

This has brought a sigh of relief to me now because I can concentrate more on content creation.

  • im hoping to get a new  camera and upgrade my photo skills..and   computer skilllls in general……and   hope to find  some  more places  where inbound marketing  can happen….industry places..

and offer more  useful  things to my customers  on  my facebook page…llike free instructions…a mini ebook  ////

and   watch  for   good pinterest  advice…..i love it  but  its so wild and  random  for me  right now..still  a good half   of my  boards are very  business related… in a way…

and  stay here to pick up   new  facebook  etc  ideas and updates…

after   quizzing  lots of  peers on the  forums im on  and in the store, im  probably not going to  bother with twitter or  instagram…yet

  • Happy Tuesday All!

I’m totally agreed with @Robin, I’m planning to communicate more effectively on all our social platforms. I think it’s the key. You can have many social platforms as you want but if the content is not engaging, you will miss your objective.

  • @rich-brooks and everyone, this is a great topic.

Actually, I’ve got butterflies in my belly right now! The reason? Well, I quit my 9 to 5 job in November, joined my wife in her company, took the plane to Silicon Valley (I’m from Europe) to spend 2 weeks and a half and get feedback on my startup (it was a successful trip). My main goal for 2013, although it’s not social media related, is NOT to get the job. I mean NOT another 9 to 5 job, what would mean that the startup and company with my wife was unsuccessful. And this is what makes the butterflies.

Regarding the social media. Hmm, we outsource our project managers and programmers to our clients as well as do social media marketing. So I reckon that we should start having a proper social media presence in 2013. But my main goal is, and it’s not that social media again, networking. Online too, but preferably getting out of the building and doing it face to face. Btw, check #getoutofthebuilding on Twitter :)

May the force be with you all (and me as well)!

  • Hello All,

I have two main social media goals for 2013.

The first is to develop a Facebook Page for my small business that has varied content, a growing number of followers, and regular engagement. I’ve never really invested time and energy into the Page and it shows.

The second is to leverage the power of LinkedIn to network with other small businesses. My plan is to learn more about Linkedin, to write a blog article about how to use it effectively, and work to expand my connections.

Best of luck to everyone, especially @milan-steskal. May the force be with you in your new endeavors! Sounds like big change, which can be a catalyst for significant success.

    Kind regards,

    Jon

  • My Plan for 2013 is to have a 50 SEO clients (local business clients), and I am targeting my goal very aggressive for any local business I will build their website and do SEO with no money upfront, they only pay when they see results and they see their website all over Google for many keywords within their city, I tried this and I am very successful at it, here is an example of the last project I have done, check out this site tintcity.com I had him ranked for all the main keywords in less than 2 month in the cities that he was interested in. If you have any questions email me I will be glad to answer them.

  • Great stuff all! I want to: A) Develop an eBook, B) use social media to develop two useful databases for clients, C) launch an app and D) keep up with all the SM while teaching clients to do the same!

  • Lots of great goals for 2013! Wow! In 2013, I’d like to:

    1. Get more online clients

    2. Be more agressive with my own social media (do as I say, not as I do!)

    3. Start building my team

I have lots of various ideas bouncing around my head but hope to iron them out over the holidays.

  • 1) I plan to learn more about Google+ for the SEO value and to create a page for my small business – as I’ve decided my 9-5 7:30-5 working for someone else – just isn’t working for me anymore!

    2) I’m also interested to learn more about content marketing, as I think I sort of, kind of, get what it is and what it’s all about -but haven’t the foggiest idea how to go about creating my own content that will engage people.

    3)  I plan to get more educated in SEO in general (keywords/meta data) just because I know it’s valuable, but I’m woefully behind in understanding.

So basically I need “Social Media 201″

And also – no beard for me.

  • Rich, another great conversation starter topic :)
For 2013 – I believe this could be the year of explosion.

I have laid the foundation for the social media channels over the last year so once our tool is released I think it will just bring in good quality leads and great clients/customers. One of my good mentors and friends told me it is like this. When you have your lines out in the water when you fish, you will catch more. However, we know that in lakes- ( I am from Minnesota- land of 10,000 lakes) you need a license and the most you can put in the water is 2 / person. Well in Social media, I believe you have to put in as many lines as you can as she has told me more then once. Did you know there are over 2,000 social media sites out there. I would be lucky if I set up 100. The other thing I believe is that you need to be real, with everyone you meet in the social space. You need to be authentic, and you can’t fake it till you make it in Social Media. I always hated when people said that.  If you are not real, not honest and not willing to take some time in Social Media- Ie… forums also like this or other groups, I believe you will not grow and get more frustrated then anything. Social media is just that, SOCIAL. ’nuff said. I have broken my own rules as well as I was learning from others.

I hope and pray that all your businesses do a huge 180 turn-around and you get all your dreams realized.

God Bless and Happy Holidays and Happy New Year, If I don’t post anymore comments before then.
    @rich-brooks @kc_kreative @supereb @savingstories @annfurnivall @chloe @milan-steskal @whitbeckweb @alihendaoui @sharijstauch @kristen-robinson @kateappelmanimages

Let’s talk if you have time soon, I think I can help most here.. just to let you know and I will not charge a dime for the information or even the tools we are going to launch.

  • I’m new to this little community, so it’s my first new year list on this site. Here’s my to-learn list: Go to school on SEO Shift my efforts from FB to google plus How to edit videos more quickly than I currently doTo-do list Get my blog and vlog on Website upgrade (done!) Launch my business properly (it’s been in beta phase) Create some top shelf free contentGoals Website traffic of 300 per week via social media activity Convert 5% to downloadingusing free content (not inc blogs) Convert 1% of that 300 into paying customers.Yeah, those numbers are conservative but would be a great result for this stage of the business. Also looking to do some things with offline workshops, networking events and partnerships.

  • My biggest plan for 2013 is to create a Social Media Show project here in Italy that will include a website and a Youtube channel for broadcasting. To promote it, recently I created a video-infographic about Social Media that showcases some interesting statistics and trends about it and how it affected us so far.

Here you can view it: http://youtu.be/5yxuljHX09I

And btw, happy holidays to everyone!
