  • I don’t know about you, but I’m at my desk 8 hours a day minimum, meaning that most of my social media activity is from my desktop.

However, during the weekends and because of new apps like Facebook Pages, I find I can do more of my social media marketing on the move.

How about you? Are there certain activities that you find easier/better on a mobile device? Or is it certain times of day or the weekend that drives your social/mobile marketing?

Plus, do you have special apps or tactics that you use for social media marketing on the move? Would love to hear how you’re using social and mobile together.

  • i avoid  apps  and  dont use a smart phone..

..but a lot of my  on line    traffic is  from  mobile….so i  try to  be mobile  friendly…..and  then  when they are  at the store in person, they   use  their  phones     A LOT….its   becoming  a part of their  shopping..mailnly  sending  pictures of   stuff   to  the  absent party  for approval or   opinion…..  or  showing us    things  …

so i  need to  be  aware of  mobile  issues…

  • After BlogWorld I contacted my web guy and told him I needed to create a mobile version of my site. However, I personally hate mobile sites when viewed from my iPhone and usually head to the full site. I use mobile HootSuite and prefer it bc it recognizes my tweeps and will autofill their handles. I don’t do Facebook mobile – there is too much complexity so I save it for desktop. I use my Pinterest app but again, I prefer desktop. I pretty much avoid mobile if I can. If I am on the road, however, then I’m forced into it!

  • I use a combination of my pc and my iPad for when I’m away from the office.  I use HootSuite and Buffer to schedule posts, but I also do them directly on Social Media sites too.  I am with @katiedavisburps, I prefer my desktop rather than apps for Facebook and Twitter.

  • Have to agree with many of the above posts concerning Facebook app!  I check it every once in a while on my iPad, but to post and connect, I much prefer to do it on my laptop!

  • I use my mobile to browse social sites whereas most of my posts are designed via my desktop. Sounds like that’s a common practice.

  • @rich-brooks I am mostly at my desktop; however, I do use Buffer to keep the tweet queue full when away from the office. Obviously when I’m at our conference, I live tweet using my smartphone.

Now that Facebook has a built-in scheduler, I setup posts ahead of time. I use an Android phone and tablet (ASUS Transformer Prime).

I was using Hootsuite mobile; however it now fails to send my tweets on either phone or tablet. I’m forced to post direct for my personal tweets. Anyone else having that issue? Just curious.

  • I use my iPhone and iPad almost exclusively for everything social.

  • I have a hole different bunch of mobile sites! They work well.Currently i see around50 views daily from them, sometimes 117 day before yesterday. If you list your sites on Bing Business Portal they give them to you for free. You design it also.Go get them.Google also goves out a mobile on the blogger free.My personal choose is my .mobi sites on my web hosting company.Since i began back linking, more show up on mobile!I have the 1st Droid, they all look great.

  • I use my smart phone on weekends, desktop during the week because I live at work M-F.

  • @rich-brooks I work from my home office, and occasionally from a local co-working space. I’m much more about the desktop versions of the social media tools. However, I have them also setup on my phone and iPad, and I use these tools when I’m out, between appointments, or even at lunch.

There isn’t any mobile app (yet) good enough that I’d use it while sitting at my desk in front of my desktop. But I’d love for that to happen.

I use my mobile devices around the house, but mostly when I’m not working. And I do check in on social media during the evenings and weekends from them. I do love the Facebook Pages app!

  • I use my iPad and phone when not at office 9 to 5. I schedule and use my desktop while in the office. The heavy lifting on a desktop. Interaction and monitoring on mobile.

  • I only use my iphone to look up stuff cuz I do not, do not like typing on my phone…must have fat fingers! @rich-brooks

  • @deairby  So agree about typing on a phone!  I don’t mind it as much on my iPad, but definitely prefer the laptop!

  • @rich-brooks Excellent topic here, Rich. Like you, I am being by laptop pretty much Monday-Friday, 9-5, so mobile is pretty much early morning when I wake up, evenings and weekends. I must admit I have preferred apps such as Zite which is great to access content that fits my profile and that complement newsletters I receive.

Mobile is also a great way, early in the morning, to weed out my inbox from newsletters and emails, so that by the time I sit down with a fresh cup of coffee, ready to start my “real” day of work, my inbox is already clean and ready to go. Thus, it’s important for email marketers to understand this and have mobile optimized emails or else many more people will start tuning out on the message.

    Cheers,
    Frederic
