Tool for archiving Twitter hashtags (6 posts)

  • I used to use a tool called TwapperKeeper for collecting hashtags. They’ve been purchased by HootSuite and the specific archiving function is not currently available.

I’m wondering if anyone has experience with this and if you have a recommendation or two?

  • @phil-mershon No, sorry, but I am interested in learning

  • So far I’ve found these to be interesting, but none of them seem perfect:

    1) Twilert – they send emails of every 100 tweets

    2) SearchHash – this lets you download the results of your search, but you have to do a new search each time. YOu also have to be careful that tweets fall of the list after 1500, so make sure to do a search however often you think you might hit that limit. You’ll then need to merge the spreadsheets that you download.

    3) The Archivist – I like this one, but they don’t let you export the results (due to violating Twitter’s TOS).

    4) HootSuite + TwapperKeeper – This merger just was finalized on Monday, so I expect they will have a new tool in their archive section before too long.

Anyone have anything else they can recommend?

  • Update on this:

After using Twilert, I decided against it. Too many tweets slip by.

SearchHash.com is the best one as you can download a spreadsheet, but you can’t forget about it. Probably wouldn’t work if you have a highly active hashtag.

The Archivist does a good job if you want to track the hashtag’s use over time, but the inability to download the results discourages me from using it.

  • @phil-mershon  Thanks for the links, I will check these out!!

  • @gbreward

Thanks Gregg. Let me know if you come across any other services that work better.
