To Klout or not to Klout? That is the Question (7 posts)

  • Okay, I just did sign up for Klout. Did this before like a year ago, but really not paid any attention to it. When I resigned up with a different email, my Score went a lot higher? Does this really matter? I know I tried to connect Google but someone else had that account already- (Must be me) so I emailed support to make sure my G+ profile could be included. I heard from Guy Kawasaki that Klout does make a difference in the social influence. I know he is way up there like 89 or more… Curious what you guys think and what your current score is? Man talking about Klout I am hungry now for a bratwurst :)

  • Guy does well in Klout because his Tweets are both done by bots and other people. His influence is not that great in other types of social media. (I worked with Guy during the launch of Alltop, and did the SEO for that site).

    Klout is useful to some extent, but they keep screwing with their algorithm, so scores go up and down. I recommend joining ProSkore as well, and taking Klout with a grain of salt. I have been very active on Twitter for over 3 years, and still only have a 45 Klout score.

  • @prestonodenbrett  I’m glad you asked this question,  I just recently started using Klout and am still trying to figure out it’s usefulness.

    @anitacohen-williams thanks for the insights.

  • @prestonodenbrett I’m not sure it’s particularly useful but the perks are fun.  @anitacohen-williams I think Guy said the only place he hangs out in person is G+. I’ve done some playing around on Twitter and when I don’t post regularly, I’ve noticed I get noticeably fewer conversions to my mailing list.

  • I just connected to Klout this week.  I have noticed on my Twitter feed that there are people who are giving their score major attention.  I do not have the time to be overly concerned about this particular ranking. If I earn perks–great, if I do not then so be it.

  • Jim Connolly has written an excellent article on Klout here: http://ow.ly/aS0M7

  • i asked the same question about three months ago, here are the answers from that thread. it is interesting to see what the new crowd has to say to this.
