Task Management (7 posts)

  • I was thinking that there is a resource that may assist my other campers in managing teams or employees of any small business and projects. Our marketing team joined Asana when it was in beta and have continued using it since it’s launch. We don’t represent or generate income from Asana at all, but since we have found it so useful I thought my fellow campers may as well.

    Basically the Asana (www.asana.com) set up is to enter different projects, tasks, and other actions and allow tracking and document loading across the team. The overall task list allows for document uploads and even sends reminders when a task is coming due! Others may find it really beneficial with Social Media postings that may be more “long game” in planning and preparation or even reminders and set up for new campaigns. Asana is still free so if you might benefit I am happy to help any way I can in explaining how it works! I’m not an expert by any means but I can at least share how it has helped me!

  • I will second @alexandrabriggs thoughts on Asana. I had been searching for a viable, realistic tool for our small consulting team for about 4 months before I discovered the Asana Beta.

    There are a few of us who like to “dabble” in tools, and others who just want something that works. This is the first one they’ve bought into so we’re sticking with it. We use it as both an editorial calendar, a way to track strategic planning and wish-list ideas, as well as a To-Do list for calls to be returned, etc.

    It works beautifully, and the new tools – being able to turn an email into a task and assign it to a team-mate – are just wonderful. It seems to get better day by day.

    Alexandra – I’d love to learn more about the ways you are using Asana.

  • I found Asana and it looks awesome. I don’t have a team to work with, just myself and that’s enough! This looks like something that could definitely get me more organized. Thanks so much. @alexandrabriggs

  • Is this like Basecamp?

    @alexandrabriggs

  • @readingtub We use Asana in tracking our team tasks and projects. Since we have different sites we work with and manage the marketing of all of them there is a lot to track. We will be switching over to Basecamp soon since we have additional projects upcoming as a company that need tracking and full-company engagement that Basecamp with be able to handle better.

    @deairby My pleasure to share! I use it for some of my personal projects as well to make sure I accomplish everything. For a while we had better engagement and use of Asana as a company but it fell by the way-side a bit so Basecamp is going to be our solution.

    @atlantarobin yes Asana is very similar to Basecamp. We are actually switching to Basecamp since I made this posting. We have more projects needing tracking and the templates feature of Basecamp along with other capabilities are going to assist us more.

  • Asana is free, right? Does basecamp cost?@alexandrabriggs

  • Yes  @deairby Asana is free. Basecamp does cost money for what we are launching but I don’t know what costs are associated since our Project Managers took lead on set up. Sorry I can’t be of more help
