Taking Imperfect Action (3 posts)

Topic tags: time management
  • Hi my friends.

I just made an important discovery about myself that kind took me by surprise. For some reason I had got myself into cycle of being a perfectionist.

So I am happy to announce that today I am a recovering perfectionist.

My main goal for 2012 is start take 1 new Imperfect Action step every day.

Today I my most Imperfect Action was to spend 15 min on emails to required immediate action, delegate emails that need follow up to Follow Up Folder and then Delete rest. Hoopla … Amazing how much time I got to do important thing here today.

What is your most Imperfect Action advices?

    Cheers…

  • Hi @aremorch
I guess you should know that people who are perfectionists commonly have problems with time, because they do not have time to finish their work or daily functions. This because they get stuck on a task that never seems to be right or perfect. Nothing is perfect in this life my friend!

I think the first step to break with perfectionism is to realize that you are a perfectionist. I congratulate you as from today you’re going to take a load off your back and start enjoying more the things you do.

  • @aremorch, good for you.  A few years ago, after  being on time or a few minutes early for appointements/meeting, I gave myself permission to be a few minutes late. Up to 5 min. It has been a great stress reliver. I suddenly realized that more people were a few minutes late and nothing BAD happened to them or that relationship they were building. It seemed to be pretyy much business as usual. Periodically when I think I am running late, I back off and coast. I get there as promptly as most. And have less stress.  I highly recommend this to all. But do not be as much as 10-20 min late.  That will annoy people. I will personally wait up to 15-20 and forgive but not after that.
