Suggestions for a webinar recording software (8 posts)

  • I want to start doing some on line webinars for up to 100 people. I need a robust webinar system that is easy to use and will allow me to quickly send out replays. I’m on a limited budget. Recommendations please.

  • @amyhallbiz

GoToWebinar is who we use. They also offer recording features, but I’ve never used them for that, so I’m unsure if they host it as well.

What I do is record using ScreenFlow on my mac, then upload to Vimeo ($200/yr) and password protect the videos for my registrants only.

    Hope this helps!

  • @amyhallbiz We use WebEx and the recordings are available almost immediately (especially when I remember to actually end the session!). I also like Meeting Burner. FreeConferenceCall.com has a new webinar service as well though I haven’t used it.

BTW, I reviewed a bunch of services over the summer. Give me your email and I’ll send it over to you.

If you wanted to keep those reviews private, no worries, but if you were concerned adding a link went afoul of the club rules, you’re in the clear.

I think a lot of people could benefit from that.

BTW, we stopped using FreeConferenceCall b/c we noticed a spike in our supposedly flat rate VoIP bill. Turns out that a lot of free conference call services use an area code that’s more expensive to call and they get to keep some of the additional fees…which then our VoIP provider turned around and billed us for.

In fact, when I try and call on gchat’s voice service, the call won’t even go through.

  • @rich-brooks good to know. I don’t need to keep it private but how do I upload a file to the system?

  • @kc_kreative

Ah, I thought it was a blog post or something. Which, when you think about it, it would make a GREAT blog post.

  • @rich-brooks Um…that would mean that I would need to start a blog….  It’s a list that I put together for work.  @amyhallbiz let me know what you think about the information.

  • I’ve used gotowebinar for a couple of years. I give 6 week (1 hour a week) training modules to students. The recordings happen automatically in your choice of two formats; their proprietary format or wmv. I use the wmv but there have been issues with mac users not being able to view the videos.

The recordings are stored on your own computer. I load them up to a private web page for students for their review purposes.

For mac users, I have to drag the recording to a decoder gotomeeting supplied to me and run it through. Pain in the butt, but works. I guess some mac users can view wmv files.

I use the gotomeeting part of the software so the cost is about $50 a month.
