Starting a Career Center (4 posts)

  • This question might be beyond the scope of the clubs; however, it can’t hurt to ask right?

I would like to develop a basic career resource center for my association. We already post opportunities and I added outside links to our partners’ job pages. What else can I do that can be managed by one person?

The careers section of our monthly e-newsletter always has a lot of clicks so I know that it is an area of interest.

  • @kc_kreative A great idea, and ambitious! I’d suggest a library of helpful articles about developing skills and job hunting.

One thing that could be extremely helpful, but you’d have to do it in a measured way so you could handle it would be to find experts to host a monthly teleclass or webinar on various topics. It could be anything from career resources to Non-profit leaders talking about future needs for the industry.

Many of these experts might also actually offer paid classes, and if you promote it for them, you might be able to get a portion of the proceeds from any tuition.

  • Thanks  @joanmuschampfagnani . We already have a webinar series. I may try to work a career one into the Fall schedule. I do like the idea of having a guest contributor for the monthly newsletter so may have to look into a partnership (or was this my random idea?). The content needs to be advertising/marketing-oriented (creatives, planners, management, etc.).

  • @joanmuschampfagnani
    maybe CV design and copyrighting?!
