Squidoo Anyone! (10 posts)

  • Who uses Squidoo? I signed up yesterday and I was totally lost but I found this information on Squidoo which helped me make sense of the site a whole lot more http://www.squidoo.com/lensbrainstorm

  • Hi I started on Squidoo but don’t use it any longer.. It used to be that article marketing was huge for SEO, backlinks, etc and I know that some people still use it.
Personally, I find forums to be more effective and of course, Social Media.. I build facebook pages for people, and facebook is expected to reach 1 BILLION people in the next few months.
I have also joined and am keeping an eye on Google Plus which I also think is going to be huge!
There is also of course Linkedin and Twitter, but I don’t think it pays to try using all when just starting out, as it can lead to overload :-)
At the end of the day, it is what you are comfortable with, though – everyone is different..
There may be others on here that (still) have a lot of success with Squidoo lenses??? I would also be interested to know. Personally though, I think that the above mentioned get better return for your time – what are other’s opinions? :-)

  • I have Squidoo lenses.  Most of them I have not looked at for awhile.  I do like how they turn up in the search results.  The Squidoo community is also active, not that I play there.  I know people who are also using it for their websites and others who are making good money with their lenses.

Will I use it again?  Not sure.  Social media is so much more effective when we learn how to use it.  I do like how Squiddo shows up in the search engine results, yet find that now the social media posts are showing in the results much faster.   Facebook about the same time and Google+ (big suprise) turns up in Google Alerts in two days!

I played around w/Squidoo years ago, and at the time it drove some traffic to my site and it pulled in some search traffic as well.

Now I just feel there’s too much spam there, and most of the articles are just bad content used to pull people in.

I also find it frustrating that my posts there attract so much comment spam, meaning I have to go in there and “trim the hedges” every once in a while.

I find that there are better ways to market your business, including guest blogging opps, and the social media platforms that @jomartin mentioned.

  • @jomartin You bring up some very interesting points. I always try measure the return I get on investing my time in something. I still think that Facebook is #1. You’re correct to many at once can be overload for sure.. Thanks for your reply.Shantel

  • @rich-brooks Oh wow! I definitely don’t want to deal with spam comments I had that on my old Wordpress blog.Shantel
