Sole Prop Vacation Management (10 posts)

  • How do you manage your social media accounts when on vacation? I know that we have tools for scheduling; however, I also know that there needs to be some interaction to keep engagement levels up.

  • That’s a very good question. Personally, when I’m on vacation I use Hootsuite’s phone app. I also post plenty on Instagram. Little captions for pictures go a long way for engagement. It’s especially helpful when you tell your friends and followers where you’re headed before you go. They’ll anticipate the trip just as much as you do! Remember though, it is a vacation. So make sure you have your fun!

  • @kc_kreative Vacation? What’s that?

  • @amyhallbiz True dat! I was really thinking of a small office where no one else was trained in the ways of social media to back you up. Funny thing is, social media doesn’t feel like “work” to me; though I do enjoy my partly disconnected self on the weekends.

  • @kc_kreative,

    Go with Matt’s @mholandez response.

Hootsuite can not be beaten. Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, pinterest etc.

  • This past weekend I was out of town meeting my 5 month old granddaughter for the first time. She is home from Germany and we got down to meet her. On Sunday, I posted a photo of me with her on my FB page with a caption sorry to be MIA but I am meeting my granddaughter….

Needless to say, that had more likes and comments than anything I have posted in a while!! I did not schedule posts but added a couple of relevant posts when I was able. Good for your fans to know that you are real and you might be away at times :)

  • Miss Kristy, I read your “Sole Prop Vacation Management” title and was thinking that meant Sole Proprietor Vacation Management “marketing” for a little old couple who ran a bed and breakfast or something quaint like that, lol. To my surprise, you were just trying to get away to visit that little old couple at their bed and breakfast for a nice respite, not to help them market their roost.

Go with the wise old owl an have a sweet little vacation… using Hoot Suite to back you up.

  • @mholandez Good tips. It’s harder when I’m representing an association vs. just me, even though I try to inject the personal when I can.

@atlantarobin LOL. The topic title probably isn’t the best :) My association isn’t sole prop but small staff.
I do use Buffer for Twitter and apps. Funny enough, I use Hootsuite for myself. Might have to switch over at some point.

  • next to hootsuite, i also like to use tweetcaster and facebook pages app.

  • It’s a tough decision to work on your vacation, but if you can schedule your time right it won’t be too much of an interruption. I usually plan on 1 hour each day to sift through my social media accounts and respond to anything that is necessary. Most of the time, nobody will notice that hour of work and you can really get a lot done if you’re focused.

    Good luck @kc_kreative !
