Social Recruitment (10 posts)

  • I am interested to know if anyone in this group is involved in social recruitment, both for agencies and employers, and if you have any suggestions, tips, and tools that could be useful in implementing a successful integrated social recruitment strategy, cost effectively. Thanks.

  • @clintonlord

What do you mean by social recruitment? According to wikipedia it’s a “contested term.”

  • I think the economy is picking up! In the last month I have started to see targeted recruitment Ads and posts from companies I follow that they are hiring. The Ads are relevant to my skill set. FWIW I have no interest in giving up my own business to seek employment, but if I was looking, they would be perfect to apply to. One of the Posts was branded to Monster, so it looks to me that Monster now has an app that will post recruitment calls on the walls of companies that are hiring through them. Sweet! You can target your Ads at people who follow certain pages, live in certain places…

  • P.s. All of the above is on my personal Facebook profile

  • @clintonlord, we don’t do this ourselves, but I have spoken to a few groups about how they can do it. May add a client in a month or so to help them with social recruiting. Try these ideas:

    1) Make sure you’re on LinkedIn. Join groups that your target candidates are in. That’s the fastest/easiest way to connect with them.

    2) Make sure you’re on Twitter. The other fastest/easiest way to connect.

    3) Do Google Blog Searches (go to Google, hit the More link, select Blogs). Do a search for the most important industry keywords that your target candidate would deal with (i.e. agile computing, lean manufacturing, cost reduction), and see who’s writing about those topics. If they’re writing about them frequently, that means they’re good at them. If they’re good at them, they may be a great fit for your clients.

  • Great thanks @erikdeckers pretty much do that.

  • @clintonlord well, pooh. I was hoping I had something new for you.

  • Lol, but thanks though

  • @clintonlord I was on the seeking side for awhile. There are various tools out there such as Tweet My Jobs. And as,  @erikdeckers mentioned, a LinkedIn presence is good. Use your groups as well as your main activity feeds. There are also speciality job boards like ASAE CareerHQ for association jobs (or the Nonprofit Times).

For Facebook, there is BranchOut and BeKnown. I also liked the basic Indeed and craigslist.

Most experienced job seekers will have their profiles filled with appropriate keywords so even a Google or LinkedIn search should bring up possible candidates. It depends on whether you want to solicit or search for candidates.

    Good luck!

  • The thing is we are to certain extent a small job boarded so don’t really search for the job seekers, which means I need to get them to come to us. Thanks for the suggestions so far, many of which I do, but a few will be very usefull. If anyone has any more thoughts please share, thanks.
