Social Media Preference (14 posts)

  • Do you have a preference between Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn? If so, why? I have a lot of fun with Facebook, don’t enjoy Twitter, and love LinkedIn.

But, I have to say I like the interaction with Facebook the best.

  • @donpurdum I must say my fun with FB is really on the personal side, and I usually check in every day, but honestly more to see what my friends and family are doing.

I have really begun to enjoy Twitter over the past several months. It is a great source of information for me, and it’s “growing on me”

LinkedIn is good, but I don’t classify it as fun, really. It’s more a staple building block that I think is very important.

Overall, now I’d say Twitter is more business fun, and of course teh SMExaminer Networking Clubs!

  • @joanmuschampfagnani

Great point about the SME Clubs. I’m lovin’ them!!!

  • @donpurdum @joanmuschampfagnani

For business use each of those three–and Google+ I suppose–have their places.

From a personal standpoint, Twitter is my favorite. I love the flood of conversation, the brevity of messages, and the people I’ve met there.

  • @rich-brooks

I guess you will have to teach me Twitter, lol. I get it, but I don’t. I grew my one twitter page to over 1200 in a few months, and the new one for The Internet Conference is already nearing 200 in less than a few weeks and I don’t why or how?

LinkedIn I completely get and enjoy for business, and Facebook is becoming funner with all the interaction we’ve been getting of late.

  • @rich-brooks, @donpurdum, @joanmuschampfagnani  I barely  use Twitter but some of my friends are on it all the time.  I use Facebook much like you John and check it 2x daily, post something of my own and check all my friends and comment to them. I am probably more active on Linked In and post business relate items like upcomming workshop, client activity, recommendations, etc.  I have a good number of link here and feel that in the end this may be the avenue to develop my consulting work.  Very interested to hear what others have to say.

  • I do think, and you can see by the fact that we are all in many networks, it takes a good combination to have it all come together. I saw some good FB page tips in the forum today, and while it is not my #1 priority for getting my business going, I will plan to take the plunge later on.

@rich-brooks hit the nail on its head noting the Twitter brevity. It’s also pretty easy to spot people who aren’t collaborative or sharers, because they are always selling something

  • I use Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Google+ for different purposes. Like @rich-brooks I find Twitter to be fun, informative, and fast–all pluses. The SME Small Business Club is the winner for best conversations this year.

  • @donpurdum I prefer Twitter and LinkedIn the most. The micro-blogging suits my need to quick information hits and life snippets. And LI lets me curate and push out various interesting tidbits to my groups. Facebook is mainly for family and friends, even though I know that it holds more power than that.

  • @donpurdum I read an article that said Facebook is really the only social media network business’ need. That is not fully accurate but to answer ur question I prefer twitter but that is quickly becoming Facebook pages because you can literally make it into a second website pretty much. Twitter and YouTube would be my second and google plus is 3rd for me. Google plus needs more fine tuning but I can see it replacing twitter is google makes the right moves.

  • My business preference would be Google+ and LinkedIn personal would be Facebook and Twitter..

  • what’s the magic with twitter? @donpurdum I don’t get it (or have time to get it)

  • Why it is SMExaminer, of course! @donpurdum @joanmuschampfagnani @sgsrecording @valeriejoydeveza @kc_kreative @debbielynnava @trudy Actually, I’ve put myself on a heavy only-information diet (except for the cooking blogs I post) for a short period of time. In essence, I’ve gone back to school and hope I am able to graduate soon enough. So, Rich, how about a certificate from SME!? I’ve got plenty of hours! LOL :) The final exam might be a bit hard, though.

  • @sgsrecording

Interesting perspective about Google+ replacing Twitter. I just don’t get the appeal of Twitter personally and have a hard time getting into it. I personally hope you’re right, but not sure?

    @deairby

Love it! There is a lot of wisdom on here!
