Hello!

I am working with an organization that needs to implement a social media policy. I’m specifically looking for a policy that outlines voice and responsibilities, but gives leeway to where it’s not asking for personal information and asking people to not be careful on their personal Facebook page.
I know some of you may suggest that the organization’s legal team or human resources department should garner this document… but it’s a one-stop-shop organization! So if you know of any HR or Legal resources that have drafted them, I highly encourage sending it over.

I think it depends on the type of organization it is. Health care and legal companies are going to need stricter guidelines than say, web designers!

Try Googling “social media policy template” with and without the specific industry in the search as a place to start.

For a long list of social media policies by several different companies and organizations, check out http://socialmediagovernance.com/policies.php. This should give you a good foundation on how to write your own.

Also, check out http://socialmedia.policytool.net/. It’s a neat tool that guides the user through making a policy.
