Social Media Dashboards (21 posts)

  • Which one do you prefer and why? Do any of them allow an FB end user to share an auto post?

  • @plabelle Greetings Pamela,
I am working with hootsuite, it is fast, reliable, integrates your social media stream seamlessly and it does nothing you do not want to, i.e. posting on your behalf without you knowing it and stuff like that.
The URL shrink option is nice – if you want that, you can 1click your posts to multiple streams and systems, you can schedule your posts (again, if you want that), you can manage twitter lists and there’s a browser plugins for firefox, chrome (and rockmelt of course), making it easy to post out of different situations. You can customize the dashboard to your liking.
There is also an extensive report section, but I never got the time to dig in there…if you, however, plan to work with hootsuite in your business and plan to integrate more people, you will have to go for one of their payment plans, but all of the stuff mentioned above is free.Concerning your FB question: Since hootsuite acts on your behalf, everything manual or automated you or hootsuite (or any dashboard) does should be shareable by any of your fans.
    Cheers, Thomas

  • I have hootsuite and it does do what I like, especially the scheduling of posts. @plabelle @ecumenix

  • I use Hootsuite as well, I like it better than TweetDeck, to use Tweetdeck and get all my messages, I have to be signed into that Twitter account to see the activity. With Hootsuite I don’t have to be

  • I too use Hootsuite and like it

  • another plus 1 for hootsuite.  That said I have in the past used excel as well as depending on what you are measuring (social plus paid?) sometimes hootsuite is not the best solution – particularly if you have stakeholders that are not on hootsuite.

  • Another vote for Hootsuite, which I have been using for a long time. I am trying out a new one called SocialBro which has a lot of flexibility built in with a lot of options for setting up your dashboard. It’s strong suit is the analytics baked in. I haven’t decided to switch to it but it does have a lot of promise. I’m still learning all of the capabilities and trying out different layouts to suit my needs.

  • Do you Hootsuite- I do… Used it- limited for the free version.. like most things about it.

  • If you all like the free HootSuite … Try the Pro version for $5.99 a month. It totally rocks!!! I’ve have 6 single stream clients and I manage an additional 8 clients out of one stream and have 60 assets that I can post to like LinkedIn groups, Facebook profiles, pages and groups and Twitter. It’s awesome! Now I just wish they would make the ability to post to Google Plus available to Pro users too!

  • Hootsuite is pretty good (and I still have my pro account for some reason) but I prefer SproutSocial.  There is a lot more functionality and its relatively cheap plus there analytics are nice.  It’s a big score for me.

Edit: Oh… yes you can auto post to Facebook and the nice thing about SproutSocial is it looks like it should.  I’ve never been able to post an image, link and comment and have it appear right.  As someone that spends a good portion of the day using social networks, I have to have something that is more functional and looks nice.

  • HootSuite. Sign in easily, find profiles in one account you want to share in another? easy. have team members who need to post but dont wan tto give them admin access? easy.

Hey @phil_lauterjung share a few  pros/cons about Social Bro. Personally love the best time to tweet, but don’t like that it only looks at 100 flwrs. Love the dashboard metrics. Wish they would let you track when you followed someone and un-followed someone. Have you, or anyone, used the notes feature?

  • @jasonwiser Jason, good points about both Hootsuite and SocialBro. I agree about the 100 follower limit on SocialBro, but like all platforms they have certain limitations. The real test will be whether or not they use feedback like yours to improve their product.

I too like their dashboard metrics, but even more so I have been exploring their range of tools. They do a nice job of combining a number of tools that mostly require the use of a variety of other apps (more open browser tabs). Analytics, sync influence data, best time to tweet, discover other users, analyze competitors, analyze lists, etc. Of course, many of these are also included in Hootsuite.

Like I stated before, I’m still not ready to abandon Hootsuite; but I do think SocialBro has the promise of becoming another viable option as a comprehensive platform tool.

  • @phil_lauterjung yeah the Social Bro User Guide states, that the best time to tweet checks thelast 7 days tweets of your 100 (free version) top followers and from your 7 days tweets” If this restriction is for the free version, where do we get the paid version? I cannot find it anywhere? Guess I should ask the club?

  • Wow – lots of Hootsuite love here. I’ve spent some time looking at a number of tools as well – each seems to have some unique differentiators. Sprout Social looked interesting and I’m considering a 30 day free trial. Argyle Social also looked great.

  • @plabelle I also use hootsuite. I signed up for the Pro Plan because I manage several FB pages, groups and twitter accts. They send you a weekly email with your stats. I love it!

  • I too am tossing out a vote for hootsuite.  It has been a tool of vital importance to the success of my business needs as well.  I have not had a chance to check out Social Bro.

    Have a great day all,

    Swoops

  • @jasonwiser I have not seen anything from them about a paid version. Do you use BufferApp? Did you sync the SocialBro Best Time to Tweet with BufferApp? That changed my data when I did that. But I have a number of months history with BufferApp.

  • I started Buffer and Hootsuite at the same time on two different clients, and Hootsuite interface, team management tools, and database scheduled tweets convinced me to drop Buffer. Maybe I should look again, but I really have everything I want in Hootsuite.

  • @iamconsulting How much is Sprout Social… and I noticed someone mentioned a free trial. Prices everyone?

    Robin

  • Another Hootsuite and Buffer user here.  I use both to some extent and want to drop one, but have not decided which one yet. Both have high points that I like that are different. Hence the indecision.

  • @atlantarobin

They have a few different options depending on what options you’d like to use.  The cheapest plan starts at $9 /month.  I’ve used both the small business plan and the deluxe.  The only real difference (besides the number of profiles you can manage and price) I noticed between the two are the Facebook tabs and custom reports.  There is a free 30 day trial.
