Social Media Beginner (8 posts)

  • Hi everyone!

I’m working for a start-up company and our main obstacle right now is just generating awareness about our product. Unfortunately, I’m a social media beginner as of right now and I’m not quite sure the most effective way to gather followers, gain likes, or connect with users on Linkedin (any in-sight on this would be helpful).

I thought it would be a good idea to stay in front of our audience as often as possible and I’ve noticed that several people/companies send out automated tweets on a regular basis that generate a headline and link to an article related to the company’s image. An example being a software company posting an article that appeared in the news about Apple.

So to my main question… I was wondering if there were any free/cheap programs out there that you knew of that I would be able to use to accomplish this?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Peter,

I use Scoop.it for that service.  I am a beginner myself and found this service quite easy to operate and it is free.

Basically, what you do is sign up, install the drag and drop Scoop.it tool to your browser’s toolbar, and when you come across content on the web that you’d like to share with your networks, just click the Scoop.it tool and publish.

I currently have articles and video published to Twitter, facebook, and to a friend’s Wordpress site.  You can also publish to LinkedIn.  Let me know what you think of it, and if you have any questions, I’m here to help.

    Best regards,
    Michael

  • Hi Michael,

Very cool site! Just some quick questions.. So all of those videos/articles on your site end up getting posted to your social media accounts as soon as you “scoop” them? And does the site allow you to post to separate accounts on the same social media platform (ex. 2 accounts on Facebook)? I’ll definitely be checking this site out more in-depth.
    Thanks, Peter

  • @pjmitch4519  Check out HootSuite.com – I love them! You can schedule posts to Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Also Ifttt.com is awesome. They’re like an internet macro! If you post to your blog then ifttt.com will push it out to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Google+ (if you set up an RSS feed.) I love ifttt.com!

  • Peter, I’d also recommend spending some time reading through the forums. You will find so much helpful information. @pjmitch4519
