Social Media and Sales – can they exist side by side? (4 posts)

  • Do you think that adopting a “social media attitude” for your business i.e. embracing the concept of Content Marketing and giving can co-exist with a sales maximisation approach or are the two opposites and can not exist efficiently within the same organisation?

  • @chatmarketing,

I believe strongly that they can co-exist.

Good social media builds on the some of the tenets handed down in Dale Carnegie’s book, How to Win Friends and Influence People and Steven Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Successful People.

By helping others first, we in turn get helped.

Too often, people hear “sales maximization” and only think short term results. If you need immediate results, turn to advertising. If you’re looking for long term results, creating quality content that helps your audience is the true path to sales maximization.

At least, that’s been my experience.

  • Thanks Rich, this is something that I am wrestling with at the moment, so appreciate the insight! Just finished reading Mike’s book ‘Launch’ and it puts up a fairly convincing argument for content marketing as the way forward. It will be interesting to hear what other members think about this issue!

  • @chatmarketing Hi! I totally agree with Rich, social media can really boost your sales when done right.

When people started to TRUST you and ENGAGE with you. It is easier for them to BUY your product because they know its a recommendation from a FRIEND and not from someone who just wants their money out of them,
