sme on giftbeat (10 posts)

  • i take  giftbeat, a paid   newsletter for  retail stores…and  sme  was mentioned as a go to place for   info on  social media…..   one point the   article  made to us  stores was  that the  big  guys  are in  front of  their  customers on  social media   almost everyday….. and that we  better get on there  too…

    it also mentioned marie    smith…

  • Hi Ann

Good news for Social Media Examiner, eh?  Take note though that many of the big stores are pulling out of Facebook now as it has not been profitable enough for them. Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve read several articles intimating to this fact.

I wanted to site some of those articles that I tweeted awhile back and did find this one:  http://pandodaily.com/2012/02/20/stop-trying-to-make-f-commerce-happen/

    Just FYI

    :D

  • @supereb im  glad  to hear that about the  big  stores..

.i think it  fits  small local   stores  pretty well  tho…like mine… also local  resturants and  salons….like i  ve  been  posting.  its huge for us….everyday i hear  …i follow  you on  facebook…. facebook is  an important part  now…

  • @annfurnivall as you said, it’s big for small or local business. But it’s important to be on the top of the Social Media Marketing as a way to be connected with you clients, and other way to do advertising, as the own name says, Social, to be in direct contact and always present whit your consumers. And use e-commerce as it is, but don’t mix them on the same site, one can connect you to the other one, but not try to do both on the same site. For me Social media Marketing is doing the job of the “P” as a Promotion and e-commerce is doing the job of the “P” as a Place. Two different, totally different strategies to get your marketing goals. Well, it’s just my point of view!

  • @hildaalanisgonzalez i  dont quite  follow  what you are saying….  dont sell and  be  social on the same site?

but im  real happy with   facebook   for our store..we know a lot of our  fans  face to face…..i dont  have an ecommerce  site…but i  do  sell and  be  social  both on  my  facebook…thats working   out  fine  for us…

  • @annfurnivall @hildaalanisgonzalez @supereb

I have made a living on Facebook in my B2C business that I took over. We cut the website we cut everything and just used Facebook. Don’t get me wrong it was a HUGE HUGE risk but it has paid huge dividends. Now this risk was taken after the business had already had a strong presence in the community for decades but we still cut all other channels of communication except for mobile. We went to Facebook and text marketing, and this year our company will be developing an Application for the theater but all centered around FB.

Certainly Facebook has different powers for different businesses but for mine I swear by it.

  • Ann, if FB is your only ecommerce where you sale, then is OK, but if the business has other places already set, then doesn’t make sence to do twice the same job. From my FB business page, My consumers can click the “Shop” option, and they are send to my page where they can buy in the same moment, and that page is not a FB business, so I’m able to cover more nich of markets.

  • @ryrussell ….very  impressive…and  brave to even try that….

.  i can see  facebook   replacing   websites… not  for us  tho…. facebook has  pushed  out  my  blog  and  several hundreds of  $$$$ of  traditional  advertizing  in the newspapers and  radio… we just  dont need it  .our email and facebook  does a much better  job….

  • @annfurnivall I appreciate you calling it brave :) Many called me foolish, but I would do it again and 1000 times over. It was truly a reconstruction of this particular product and I dont know if any other medium could have provided these results.

  • @ryrussell i would love to hear  what  you   have  found  to  be  the  best   ideas on  engagement with  your  followers/customers ?…some  plots and   ways …

on another forum  there was a big  discussion    against even   depending on  facebook  was  that it was in the control of  someone else and it  could  all change….i thought it was  all wrong, since anything  can  change ……and i wanted  to be  there  mainly  since   my  customers are  there already….and  they   dont mind/ maybe even like   me  being on their  page  every morning… .

i think it helped us  survive  thru that  bad  year.. 2009  , a scary economic  year  when  many   businesses  closed up…
