SMC – Is there a list of points/badges somewhere? (32 posts)

  • SMC = Social Media Clubs

    Hiya Folks.
I have no clue where I should ask this question and it is not something I really need to know. Just wonderin’… I found the points system and that leads me to the “badges” for lack of a better term. I had noticed mine had changed a few times.

I have no clue what it all means and like I said, just wonderin’.

However, even tho’ curiosity killed the cat, I’d like to see a list of the points and how they relate to the badges we receive. For no other reason than I’m just curious (some might say nosy, but not I, heh).

Thanks to anyone who can supply the URL to this bit of information. I assume there is one, but maybe not.  Yeesh.

  • Hi Anita.

Thanks and Yes, I went there right off the bat and looked over the stuff in there.

However, there is not a correlation between the points and the “badges” placed under our names.  That is what I’m looking for.  Did I somehow miss that?

    Eileen :)

  • @supereb @anitacohen-williams I have been wondering about the number of points to be reached at each level for the ran to change.  It changed pretty quickly in the beginning but now it seems to be taking longer to get to the next rank. It would be nice to see a list of the Ranks with the required point level to be reached to attain the rank.  Hope that made sense.

  • Hiya Trudy.

Yep, makes perfect sense to me as that is what I was asking for to begin with, you know?  Heh.

    Eileen :D

  • @supereb @anitacohen-williams @trudy

Being a gamer myself, I can tell you that it’s always easier to “level up” at the beginning of the game. As time goes on, the milestones get further apart.

    Same’s true here.

I’m not sure @mike-stelzner wants to release all the point levels, as we want people to enjoy the game, not game the system.

However, people could always reverse engineer the system by tracking what point you hit when you suddenly became a Guru or Trailblazer.

  • Hiya.

No games here, just wonderin’, you know?  I don’t need to go to the extra effort of reverse engineering tho’. Just don’t have that kind of time on my hands, heh.

    Thanks for the response :D

  • Hiya Dee.

Oh MY! OK, so I am uh, fairly competitive myself, but not in that kind of fashion.

See, I feel like social media is a FUN activity and if, per chance, I should snag a client along the way, it’s all to the good.  But wholly not necessary.

These types of places are relaxing for me between all the hustle and bustle of a workday or work wekkend.  This is activity I put in between the long hours of web development.

It should be FUN, not work. At least for me it is.

  • @rich-brooks I have never thought of this as a game. But a place to share info and I read and been given some wonderful <a href="mailto:advice.@supereb“>advice.@supereb I have also found it fun but still a place for sharing our knowledge. @deereinhardt I too have found myself occassionally feeling competitive, but is competitiveness the reason for the this to exist, or is it actually for sharing knowledge with each other.  Frankly, if the reason it was conceived and published was not for  sharing our knowledge with each other, then I am personally not interested.  I do not even know Mike Stelzner but I bet he did not intend for it to be a “competive game”.  I think it would be most interesting to hear from Mike on the reasoning behind the points and increasing levels.  I have several ideas as to why but I think it would be better to come from the creator.

  • @supereb @trudy

    Hey folks…

I am big into mysteries…  This is one ya’ all need to solve on your own.  Have fun :)

I’ll give you a hint: search

  • @trudyphillips – Yeah, pretty much the sharing and learning is a given because, after all, social media online is all about sharing and learning.

@MichealStelzner – You just had to show up and make us all look bad,eh? Ha!-search indeed.  I ‘spose that should have been first in line as an action to take. I like mysteries too, so long as the ending is the right one, you know?
Have a great Sunday tomorrow folks!

  • @mike-stelzner So Funny!  Can you give us a clue? Just want to say, when my time permits I really enjoy this execise in communication on various topics. Actually  much more so than  FaceBook or Linked in. so in my opinion you have created a wonderful thing.

  • @supereb @anitacohen-williams @trudy @rich-brooks @deereinhardt We had this question going on in this thread, so it gives you levels that we are familiar with, up until now… ;-)

    Cheers,

  • Maybe it is just me, but I am not interested in playing games here, but rather in helping others with information.

  • @fredericgonzalo Thanks for the link. It does help to know the order. Now if we could figure out the top points for each.  But then, on second thought, some highly competitive folks would  just bounce around with senseless/useless activity to ramp up their points.  So I for one shall just keep going forward.

  • I enjoy the forum of being able to ask questions and gain valuable knowledge.  Everyone is extremely helpful and willing to “pay it forward”.  I guess I should just look at the points as a bonus.

(I deleted my earlier comment as I didn’t want to be antagonistic.)

  • Happy Sunday Folks.

When I visited the other thread, they have lists where they’ve tried to follow the progression of the rank of members.  It’s a good thread too.

The all-seeing Sage (and that’s a rank or badge name, but not his) @Michael Stelzner (Club Leader) says some are left out and some are in the wrong order but at least they are giving it a try. I wanted to add “Big Cheese” at the top, but since no one knows where the TOP is, that might be a tad hard and out of bounds. Heh.

Well, it’s been fun getting to know a few new folks anyhowsen.  I think I invited you all to be friends, but if I missed any, hit me up anytime.

    Have a great Sunday Folks.

  • @Kristy C. Cartier

WOW! You’ve been busy keeping up with what’s what.  Good on YOU.

    Thanks a bundle.

    :D

  • what’s curious is that I’m over 15000 and still a guru! don’t know when the next one comes. @kc_kreative @supereb

  • Wow Dea – 15,000 – that’s a big number.
Wouldn’t it be cool if the very top was “Big Cheese” !!! LOL.

We should have a petition to include big cheese – what a gas. Literally. Heh.

OH – off topic – just tonight I see all the references and links have a line through them (a strike through) . It is ME, or is this happening for everyone?

  • @supereb  @deairby BTW you can LOSE points too as I found out last night. I was having issues posting my list so I deleted it twice. Well, lo and behold, I had LOST 20 points!

Guess that I should’ve hit the “edit” button instead…

  • @Kristy C. Cartier I saw that when I had two duplicate entries and had to delete one. I lost 10 points on that. There seems to be some issues with using the format tools also.  But, I don’t see a place to report bugs.Anyone know where to report bugs?

  • and now there is Master after 15500 @kc_kreative

  • @deairby Nice. I’ll update my spreadsheet tonight ;-)

  • I was wondering what the point breakdown was … Thanks!

  • after Master around 15500, then Legend after about 16500 @amyhallbiz

  • @kc_kreative@supereb

Thanks guys for your point system info. I do like the way @mike-stelzner has made this an informative forum but has also made this fun to participate.

    Keeps us coming back :)

  • Just so you know… I became a Legend at 16500 points and am still a Legend at almost 35000… so, I don’t know what is to come, if anything else. @karlmorris

  • @deairby BTW, Legend is used twice (based on my record-keeping) on the list. I might hang at “Sage” for awhile :)

  • Hiya Folks.

I think some of the items have changed as far as numbers too when they changed the points system a while back, but really have no clue.  They keep us in the dark (for good reason). Too many folks ‘play the numbers’ too competitively.

  • @supereb I keep my own personal list but haven’t researched the upper end in awhile. As you and I think  @deairby mentioned, they seem to be tweaking certain levels. I’m close to moving to the next badge (within 100 or so points). It gives me something to follow; however I’m not really chasing anymore. I am Sage currently after all :)
